Bratwurst Club of Menomonee Falls; c: 1931
Menomonee Falls News
(shared by Earl Habermacher)
Dedicated to Bratwurst and Conviviality
Here you see the Bratwurst club of Menomonee Falls in action. In the upper row (from left to right) are W.H. Coffin, M.J. Dunn, jr., Joseph Brazy, Joseph Blake, Edgar Schunk, Arthur Kraemer, Oliver Schunk, Arthur Kraemer, David Brazy, and Jacob Habermacher. Below (from left to right) are Max Brazy, Reinhold Hille, Hans Mueller, Kenneth Eckhardt, Frank J. Schwalbach, Harold Burg, W.H. Rintelman and Clarence Seip, Joseph Zimmer is the man with the wisk broom and white cap and apron.
The Journal scribe called the News office last Friday to learn who the officers of the club are. Well, that is one among many of the novel features of this club. It has no constitution or by-laws, no officers, no board of directors. The club room covers about ... of floor, rather ground space. The walls exist of barbwire entanglements and the roof, the clear blue sky.
The furnishings -- well there are no tables, one big knife, fork and spoon; no waiters or waitresses. A few camp chairs, a charcoal grill and wisk broom completes the equipment. It is the most democratic club in the world. Neither federated nor confederated, neither politics or religious: race, color or previous condition of servitude, wealth or position count here. Its membership is cosmopolitan. No one makes a profit. The menu is not confined to bratwurst, but is varied. Ham, smoked butt or steaks are specials occasionally. Coffee, tea, sometimes beer for those who like it. Olives, pickles, etc., are always available.
