Wish Upon A Star The night is a glitter with stars of all sizes, some brighter than others, some just holding their own until their time comes to shine. We and the stars have a lot in common, we are born, we shine, and we die. The important part is when we shine. We don't shine equally all the time. Quite the contrary, you might say we pulsate. As we accomplish an objective, we shine. When we ponder our next move, our light dims in preparation for our next display. There may be years between one display and the next. All displays require effort and determination. To shine is not a given, and it is not free. May we choose wisely. May we endeavor to reach. May others assist. Let us shine tomorrow. Genealogy As we move through our life cycle, there will be times when articles are published about us, or our name appears in an article. When this happens, take a scissors, cut the article out, identify the publication, the page number, the date and file the article. Later in life, when your grandchildren come to visit, share with them the articles and the story behind them. Call it a family history hour if you like, and share with them often. Keep me in mind when you change your email provider or postal address as this will assist me in getting the newsletter announcement to you. Check here for the 38 families for who I presently need an updated email address. If you should distribute a family newsletter, would appreciate if you might send me a copy as it will help to keep me up-to-date. Schulteis Family In a newspaper article published in 1921 was written: Four Generation - Golden Wedding Mr. and Mrs. Herman J. Schulteis held open house at their Richfield family recently for the four generations of their farm, in honor of their golden wedding anniversary. Mr Schulteis is 75 and his wife is 70. They have 11 children, 36 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Mr. Schulteis was born and reared on the farm on which he lives. His wife was born at St. Lawrence, Wis. but has spent nearly all her life at Richfield. In the group containing a representatives of each of the four generations are: Herman J. Schulteis: son, Peter J. Schulteis: grandson, Clarence Schulteis, and great-granddaughter, Dolores Schulteis. "Hard work, and plenty of it, is the secret of good health and long life." Mr. Schulteis said. "I feel as strong as I did when 20." Marilyn (Schulteis) Merten remembers her mother telling her the family usually came home to the farm around August 15th for a reunion. Tesla Genevieve Gosney, daughter of Brian Jeremy Schulteis and Heather Gosney, was born 29 March 2008 at home in Olalla, Kitsap County, Washington, USA. Diego Peter Torres, son of Adolfo Gerardo Torres and Veronica Marie Brahm, was born 26 April 2008 at Community Memorial Hospital, Menomonee Falls, Waukesha County, Wisconsin, USA. Max Franklin Niedfelft, son of Ryan Allen Niedfeldt and Kimberly Marilyn Bayer, was born 02 May 2008 at St. Francis Hospital, Snakopee, Scott County, Minnesota, USA. Therese Ann Dreisbach, daughter of John Richard Dreisbach and Nicole Ann Fassbender, was born 22 May 2008 at Oklahoma University Medical Center, Tulsa, Tulsa County, Oklahoma, USA. Skye Raina Deguzis, daughter of Scott Deguzis and Amy Jo Schulteis, was born 11 July 2008 at St. Joseph Hospital, Santa Monica, Los Angeles County, California, USA. Rowan Marie Schulteis, daughter of Michael Theodore Schulteis and Virginia Catherine Pampel, was born 18 August 2008 at Community Memorial Hospital, Menomonee Falls, Waukesha County, Wisconsin, USA. Elizabeth Margaret Kapp, daughter of Rebecca Margaret Brahm and Kevin Jerald Kapp, was born 14 October 2008 at Community Memorial Hospital, Menomonee Falls, Waukesha County, Wisconsin, USA. Cole Brent Reiter, son of John Leon Reiter and Hope Marie Higgins, was born 24 October 2008 at West Allis Memorial Hospital, West Allis, Milwaukee County, Wisconsin, USA. Marriages:
Jeffery Theodore Schulteis, son of Gary Theodore Schulteis and Sharon Ann Meyer, and Marie Wolfgram were married on 13 September 2008 at the Garden's Wedding Chapel in Allenton, Washington County. Wisconsin, USA.
Patrick John Merten, son of Theodore Clarence Merten and Marilyn Helen Schulteis, and Abigail Julia Kremer, daughter of Reynold Kremer and Edith Messmer, were married 25 October 2008 at Peace Lutheran Church, Hartford, Washington County, Wisconsin, USA. Deaths:
Florence Ann Wiedmeyer departed on 11 March 2008 at Aurora Medical Center, Hartford, Washington County, Wisconsin, USA. Florence was the daughter of the late Peter Calenberg and the late Elizabeth Hug, spouse of the late Alexander Frank Wiedmeyer, and mother of Donald A. (Laverne) Wiedmeyer. Florence was buried in St. Kilian Catholic Cemetery, Hartford, Washington County, Wisconsin, USA. She was 94 years. Ralph Walter Wilkum departed on 04 July 2008 at St. Agnes Hospital, Fond du Lac, Fond du Lac County, Wisconsin, USA. Ralph was the son of the late William Wilkum and the late Carolyn Vogl, husband of Lavern Audrey Schulteis, and father of Gregory James (Patricia Karen Konietzka) Wilkum, Craig William (Bonnie Lee Krugler) Wilkum, Carrie Rochelle (Roland James) Crook, and Robert Ray (Lori Ferstl) Wilkum. Ralph was buried in the Church of the Risen Christ Mausoleum, Calvary Cemetery, Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, USA. He was 87 years.
Norbert J. Weiland departed on 05 August 2008. He was the son of the late Herman Weiland and the late Elizabeth Zehreier, husband of Mildred Wiedmeyer and father of Steven (Jean), Claudine (Ryan) Courtney, Charles (Beata), the late Thomas, Nathan (Lisa), Betsy (Ryan), Anney (Sam), and Mary Kay. Norbert is buried in St. Kilian Catholic Cemetery, St. Kilian, Fond du Lac County, Wisconsin, USA. He was 83 years. Paul Leo Schulteis departed on 18 August 2008. He was the son of the late Sylvester Ferdinand Schulteis and the late Isabelle Margaret Wolf, husband of Linda Lou Paul and father of Laura Marie (Steve) Kwaterski and Brian Jonathan Schulteis. Paul is buried in Sunyside Cemetery, Menomonee Falls, Waukesha County, Wisconsin, USA. He was 65 years. Leona Lyn Olla departed on 05 November 2008. She was the daughter of Micha Olla and Kari Lyn Fassbender. Leona was born the day before. Schulteis Happenings: This year through email, I met my second Schulteis cousin living in Germany. Her name is Barbara Stewen nee Mecke. She is my 3rd cousin one time removed. Barbara is of my parents generation. She is the great-granddaughter of Constantin Schulteis, the youngest sibling of Peter Joseph who emigrated to the United States of North America in 1843. Barbara is a professional artist and sculptor. She does very nice work. Her web site can be found here

(Linda L. Boelter) Markert. Marie was buried in Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery, Milwaukee, Milwaukee County, Wisconsin, USA. The location is Crypt/niche 14, Tier F, Side Rs, Inside Chkdm. She was 93 years.

If anyone can help in identifying the individuals, date the picture, or point out where we may have identified in error, would appreciate hearing from you. Happenings: In the year 2009, will begin an effort to develop an Ott Family Heritage Book. Needless to say, we have a lot of work ahead of us. I put out a call for pictures, both old and new, stories, family details, and individual details. This odyssey in the making will only come to be if we all work together, as a family should.
Deaths: Jerome Anthony Hottenroth, departed on 07 October 2008 at home in Allenton, Washington County, Wisconsin, USA. Anthony was the son of the late Jerome Hottenroth and the late Marcella Holz. He was the spouse of the late Patricia Isabel Olive Wolf, the father of Pamela Ann (Gregory) Grover, Susan Mary (Mark John) Naber, Cinthia Lee Hottenroth, Anthony Jerome (Shelly) Hottenroth, Randall William (Sandy) Hottenroth, Linda Diane (Matt) Briggs, Richard Joseph Hottenroth, Laurie Jean Anders and the late Todd Matthew Hottenroth. He was 77 years.
