Barber, Harvey C. Age 82 of Rockwall, TX, passed away November 29, 2008. He was born February 26, 1926, in Homimy, OK, to Harvey Sr. and Grace (Burkhead) Barber. Harvey married Betty Thomas on September 2, 1949, in Oklahoma City, OK. He was a World War II Veteran of the U.S. Navy and a 1950 graduate of the University of Oklahoma. Harvey retired, as a manager, after 34 years of service from Mobil Oil and enjoyed his retirement very much. He was of the Methodist faith. Harvey is survived by his wife: Betty Barber of Rockwall; daughter: Karen Amos of Garland, TX; grandchildren: Julie and Jeff Amos, Rick James, Philip James and wife Melissa; great-grandchildren: Macie and Madeline James. He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Claudia James and two sisters. Funeral services will be held 10:00am Tuesday, December 2, 2008, at Rest Haven Funeral Home-Rockwall Chapel. Interment will follow in Rest Haven Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Monday from 6:00 to 8:00pm. Memorials may be made to American Heart Association .

Dear Friends,

I do apologize for the somewhat impersonal message, but I wanted to let you all know of my father's passing. My father had been in much pain for the past year. He had severe osteoporosis that had compressed his bones so much to the point of putting extreme pressure on his nerves. He was hospitalized a couple of weeks ago again due to the extreme pain and was hoping that the doctors could come alter his medications to help him cope with the pain. Over the past year, my father's weight had dropped drastically and there was really just not enough of him to have the energy to fight on. He suffered heart failure Sunday the 16th and suffered cracked/crushed ribs as they resuscitated him. He was only able to tell the doctors that he was very tired and was unable to speak after that. He finally passed away in his sleep Thursday morning here in the Philippines (Wednesday afternoon in the US). He was 77 years old.

Kinsley and I flew left the States on Wednesday afternoon for Manila without knowing that he had already passed away. We had the funeral on Sunday the 23rd where he was buried near his mom, his sisters, brother, and father.

My dad was able to meet his first grandchild earlier this year when all 3 of us came home the last 2 weeks of February. I guess somehow it was better than my last image of him was him happy and pain free, though very skinny and frail looking. He suffered so long and is now in a much better place.

My mom is doing as best as one can expect. Kinsley and I will be here for at least a few weeks or longer to get things straightened out and make sure my mom is where she wants to be. Her health is still the same, which basically means no new major problems.

I'm still trying to reach everyone to let them know but have had my hands full with other things. I hope all is well and that you all will remember the good times and memories you had with my dad. He will be missed by many.

BROWN, RAEF SCOTT , Age 73 of Rockwall, TX, passed away December 13, 2007. He was born on January 8, 1934, in Norristown, PA, to James H. & Amy (Fritz) Brown. Mr. Brown served his country in the United States Navy from 1952 until 1955, during the Korean Conflict. He transferred from Philadelphia, PA to Dallas, TX, in the mid 70s, and worked for Mobil Oil until his retirement in 1994.

Mr. Brown is survived by his wife of 22 years: Patricia (Stout) Brown of Rockwall, TX; son: Robert A. Brown; granddaughter: Jennifer A. Brown; sister: Mary Mitchell; adult stepchildren: David Neely, Mark Neely & wife Diane, and Karen Williams & husband Mike; grandsons: Jason Williams & wife Jenifer, and Joshua Williams and wife Emily; and great-grandson: Adam Williams. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be held 10:00am Monday, December 17, 2007, at Rest Haven Funeral Home-Rockwall Chapel with Rev. Timothy Greenawalt officiating. Interment will follow in Rest Haven Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Sunday evening at the funeral home from 4:00 to 6:00pm.
