Forian A. Piaszak

M, b. 18 October 1937, d. 30 August 2012
      Florian Piaszak, also know as Jack, of Hubertus, Washington County, Wisconsin, USA, was unexpectedly called Home by the Lord at the age of 74 years on Thursday, 30 August 2012. Forian was born in Wausau, Marathon County on 18 October 1937, son of Anton and Monica (nee Suchomski) Piaszak. On 29 July 1961, Jack was united in marriage to Geraldine “Jeri” Pohl. After serving in the United States Army, Jack was employed at American Motors in Milwaukee. He then owned and operated the Mayfair Enco service station in Milwaukee. Jack also worked as a salesman for both Goodyear and Creative Marketing for many years. He later owned and operated Jack’s Mobil Service in Milwaukee, until retiring in 1997. Even after retiring, Jack just couldn’t be idle and continued to work odd jobs, including Bauer Built, Do-It-Best Hardware and Piggly Wiggly. He was a member of St. Gabriel Catholic Parish in Hubertus, the Allenton Fohl-Martin American Legion Post 483 and the West Bend Moose Lodge No. 1398.

Jack was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. After 51 years of marriage, Jack and Jeri were life-long best friends who did everything together. His family always came first. His favorite past times were riding his golf cart with his constant companion, his dog Jazzy; relaxing on his pontoon boat; shopping at Menards and playing Hearts on his laptop. He had a “bucket list” of things he wanted to accomplish in life and he successfully achieved many of them. Jack had a personality everyone loved. He was known for his sense of humor, yet he was also serious, caring and sensitive and he loved being surrounded by family and friends. Jack was the life of every party. Being the giving and caring man he was, he donated bone marrow to a young girl in California and through Jack’s Mobil Service ran many benefits for the MACC Fund for childhood cancer.

He was survived by his loving wife, Jeri; three daughters, Jody Zuraw of West Bend, Wendy (Duane) Mantz of Hartford, and Kim Anderson of Brookfield; seven grandchildren, Andy Zuraw, Jamie Zuraw, Stephanie Mantz, Justin Mantz, Sara Anderson, Abbie Anderson, and Ian Anderson; brother and sister-in-laws, nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. Jack was preceded in death by his infant daughter, Cindy Piaszak; his parents Anton and Monica Piaszak; his in-laws Robert and Virginia Pohl; two sisters, Lorraine Muth and Dolores Coakley; two brothers-in-law, George Muth and Allen Roser; and nephew, Jeffrey Muth.

Funeral services in remembrance of Jack were held on Wednesday, 05 September with a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Gabriel Catholic Parish, 1200 St. Gabriel Way, Hubertus. Visitation was at the church on Wednesday prior to the Mass.

Norbert Strauss

Norbert Strauss of West Bend, Washington County, Wisconsin, USA, formerly of Grafton, Ozaukee County passed away into the loving arms of his Lord and Savior at the age of 87 years at Harvest Home Assisted Living in West Bend on Sunday, 02 September 2012. Norbert was born in Milwaukee, Milwaukee County on 04 October1924, son of Norbert F. and Anna M. (nee Neumann) Strauss. He grew up in Milwaukee and joined the United States Navy at the age of 17, prior to the bombing of Pearl Harbor. Norbert served on the USS Ingraham in the Pacific Theatre and was honorably discharged as a Gunners Mate 3rd Class in 1945. On 31 January 1948, he was united in marriage to Norma Tuecke at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Milwaukee. The couple moved to the Graton area, where Norbert worked as an appliance repairman for Sears for more than 30 years. He was a member of Open Door Bible Church in Port Washington. Norbert enjoyed woodworking, hunting, fishing, camping and traveling, Civil War and World War II history, and reading.

Norbert was survived by his three children, Ruth Ann (Scott) Phaneuf of West Bend, Stephen (Linda) Strauss of Evergreen, Colorado and Tom (Alicia) Strauss of Waukesha. He was further survived by five grandchildren, Anne (John) Contant, Melissa Phaneuf, Sarah (Bryce) Turi, Elizabeth (Rory) Buchanan and Naomi Strauss; eight great-grandchildren, Tristan, Ella, Aidan, Johannah, Scarlett, Jebediah, Delaney and Miles; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Norbert was preceded in death by his wife, Norma, his parents, and five sisters, Gertrude Strauss, Wilma Seefurth, Mary Ann Reit, Janette Mayer and Louise Kuhn.

Funeral services for Norbert were celebrated on Friday, 07 September at the Open Door Bible Church, 3420 County Road LL, Port Washington, where the Reverend Jim Engelman officiated. A time of gathering took place at the church on Friday, 07 September.

Donald H. Butzke

M, b. 23 March 1932, d. 03 September 2012
      Donald H. Butzke of Jackson, Washington County, Wisconsin, USA, passed away at the age of 80 years on Monday, 03 September 2012 at the Health Care Center of Cedar Community. Donald was born in the town of Jackson on 23 March 1932, son of Erhard and Erna (nee Koepke) Butzke. In 1951, Don entered the United States Army, serving during the Korean Conflict. He later became employed as a heavy-equipment operator in the road construction business. He was a member of Local No. 139 Operating Engineers and the Jackson S/Sgt. Henry F. Gumm American Legion Post 483.

Donald was survivors by three daughters, Vicki Butzke (Bob Seebantz), Kelly Tesch and Linda (Mike) Bath; six grandchildren, Robin and Benjamin, Adam (Briana) and Hayley, and Kristy and Shaun (Adriana); four great-grandchildren , Angel, Christian, Zoey and Drake; one sister, Yvonne (Fred) Nunez; and nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Beverly (Kenneth) Herman, one brother, James (Marlene) and 1 sister-in-law, Betty (Howard) Hartwig.

Funeral services were held on Friday, 07 September at David’s Star Evangelical Lutheran Church, 2740 David Star Drive, Jackson. Burial was in the church cemetery with military honors. Visitation was held at the church on Friday with an American Legion walk through at the services.

Elroy A. Bruss

      Elroy A. Bruss, a funeral service was held on Saturday, 08 September 2012 at First Immanuel Lutheran Church in Cedarburg, Ozaukee County, Wisconsin, USA, for Elroy A. Bruss, who entered heaven four days before on 04 September. The Reverend Randolph Raasch officiated the funeral service. Interment took place at Immanuel Cemetery in Cedarburg.

Elroy was born in Colby, Clark County, son of Albert Bruss and Amelia (nee Schwantes) Bruss. He graduated from Valparaiso University and received a law degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Elroy served his country during World War II as a P51 pilot and served with the 8th Army Air Corp 78th Fighter Group at Duxford, England Air Base. He was the vice president of finance at Doerr Electric and later owned and operated the Palmer Fixture Company. Elroy served his community as an alderman and was also on the police and fire commission. He served as chairman of the pool committee which built the very first pool in Cedarburg. Elroy was a charter member of the Cedarburg-Grafton Rotary Club, a Paul Harris Fellow, and a member of the Cedarburg Peter Wollner American Legion Post 288. He was a longtime member of First Immanuel Lutheran Church in Cedarburg.

Elroy was survived by his wife, Lois; children, Steven, Mark (Gail) and Ellen (Mark); grandchildren, Stephanie and Jonathan; and sister, Anita Bock. He was further survived by other relatives and friends.

Theodore C. Egelhoff

M, b. 17 October 1921, d. 24 December 2012
      Theodore C. Egelhoff, also known as Ted, of Mequon, Ozaukee County, Wisconsin, USA, passed away peacefully in hospice care at Columbia St. Mary’s Hospital Ozaukee in Mequon, at the age of 91 years, on Monday, 24 December 2012. Theodore was born in rural upper Michigan on 17 October 1921, son of George and Mary (nee Hopp) Egelhoff. The family moved to Mequon in 1927, where Ted attended Holstein School and graduated from Cedarburg High School in 1939. He served in the Marine Corps during World War II and married Jayne Nalle in December 1943 in Santa Ana, California. Jayne passed away in May of 1989. Ted was the owner and operator of Egelhoff Tree Service with his brother David from 1945 until 2005. He was very active in civic affairs, elected one of the first aldermen in Mequon, served 33 years on the Mequon-Thiensville-School Board and served 27 years as an Ozaukee County supervisor. Herbert was a member of the Thiensville-Mequon Rotary Club, where he was a renowned chef. He was a lifelong member and served as usher in the Lumen Christi Catholic Church in Thiensville.

Herbert was survived by his children, Claudia Egelhoff of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Christine (Ed) Morgan of Sheboygan and Matthew (Karen) Egelhoff of Grafton; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one brother, Gerry Egelhoff of Mequon; and many nieces and nephews, other relatives and numerous friends.

A funeral Mass in remembrance of Herbert was held on 12 January at Lumen Christi Catholic Church, Thiensville, followed by a reception on site.

Alfred F. Loecher

      Alfred F. Loecher, also known as Al, found eternal peace at the age of 82 years on 06 September 2012. Alfred was born on 25 June 1930 in Stacyville, Iowa. He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. Alfred married Dorothy Merten on 10 June 1953 in Adams, Minnesota. Alfred and Dorothy started their family in Stacyville, Iowa, then settled in Wisconsin. He worked at American Motors and then Rexnord, from where he retired in 1993. Al started the Young At Heart Organization at St. Mary's Immaculate Conception Parish in West Bend. He was always very involved in Cub and Boy Scouts. Alfred often did repairs for friends and neighbors. He was a member of Korean War Vets, West Bend Lt. Ray Dickop American Legion Post 36, West Bend Fred A. Schaefer Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1393, and the Sno Birds Snowmobile Club.

Alfred was survived by his loving wife, Dorothy; children, Doug, Vivian (Keith) Nienow, James, and Kevin; nine grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; sisters, Margaret Mueller, and Joan (Jerome) Heimer. He was further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Alfred was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Helen (Everett) Wagner; brother-in-law, Emil Mueller.

A Memorial Service was held on Monday, 10 September at the Phillip Funeral Home Chapel (1420 West Paradise Drive, West Bend, WI 53095) where Deacon Dan Schroeder presided. The visitation was held at the funeral home on Monday until the time of service.

Walter E. Degner

M, b. 24 July 1917, d. 02 September 2012
      Walter E. Degner, also known as Butch and Wally, of West Bend, Washington County, Wisconsin, USA, passed away at the age of 95 years on Sunday, 02 September 2012 at the Cedar Lake Health and Rehabilitation Center. Walter was born on 14 July 1917 in West Bend, son of Erwin and Mathilda (nee Hoppe) Degner. He attended West Bend High School and later served his country during WWII by enlisting in the United States Army. Wally spent his time in the service in the Pacific Theater serving in the Red Arrow Division in the 128th Infantry Band. On 25 May 1946, following his return home from the war, Walter was united in marriage to Mabel Joedike at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church in West Bend. He was an assistant manager at Campbell's Department Store, which later became the Carroll House. In 1962, he began his own business called Butch's Sport Shop, which he owned and operated until his retirement in 1981. Following his retirement, Wally worked part time for Zuern Lumber in Allenton for five years. Wally was an avid Brewer and Packer fan. He loved fishing and wood working. He enjoyed attending the Red Arrow Division reunions and was a member of the West Bend Lt. Ray Dickop American Legion Post 36. Wally was also a lifetime member of St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church in West Bend.

Wally was survived by two children, Carol (William) Bremser of West Bend and David (Lucille) Degner of West Bend; four grandchildren, Becky (Dana) Nielsen of Oakland, Cailfornia, Matt (Erin) Bremser of Sheboygan, Beth Degner of Slinger, and Jenna (fiancé Danny Clifford) Degner of Bayside; a great-grandson, Liam Bremser; a sister-in-law, Edith Degner of West Bend; and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Mabel; a sister, Bernice Remmel; a brother, Harold Degner; a sister-in-law, Kathryn Degner; and two brothers-in-law, Elroy Remmel and Carl (Ruth) Joedike.

A memorial service in honor of Wally was held on Friday, 21 September at the Myrhum-Patten Funeral Home in West Bend. Visitation was at the funeral home on Friday until the time of service. Burial of his cremated remains was in Washington County Memorial Park in West Bend.

George Williiam Condon

      George William Condon of Kingsford, Michigan, USA, passed away at the age of 73 years on Monday, 03 September 2012, at the Oscar G. Johnson V.A. Medical Center in Iron Mountain, Michigan. George was born on 24 May 1939 in Crystal Falls, Michigan, son of George and Helen (Lake) Condon. He attended school in Crystal Falls and joined the United States Coast Guard. He worked as a painter at Gehl Company in West Bend, Washington County, Wisconsin, USA, from October 1987 through June 2001 where he retired. He moved back to Michigan after retirement and married Marjorie Clark on 2 December 2003. George attended Grace Baptist Church in Kingsford and found comfort in reading his Bible. He loved fishing and was very artistic. He especially loved drawing.

George was survived by his wife, Margie; two sons, Brett Condon of Caspian, Michigan and Danny Condon; a daughter, Lisa (Chris) Weiss of West Bend; three brothers, Jim (Ione) of Crystal Falls, Michigan; Gary (Carla) of Clintonville; Garth (Barbara) of Clintonville; and one sister, Jeanie (Chum) of Clintonville; two grandchildren, Brooke and Justin Weiss; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held on Saturday, 08 September at Grace Baptist Church in Kingsford. Memorial services followed at the church. Pastor Wynne Kimbrough officiated.

Jayme R. Ceplina

      Miss Jayme R. Ceplina passed away in the town of Saukville, Ozaukee County, Wisconsin, USA, at the age of 21 years on 10 September 2012. Jayme was born in Milwaukee, Milwaukee County, Wisconsin, USA, on 11 December 1990, daughter of Michael and Donna (nee Haack) Ceplina. She graduated from West Bend East High School Class of 2009, then entered and served in the United States Marines. Jayme was currently employed at Dick’s Sporting Goods in Grafton, Ozaukee County. She was a beautiful artist, violinist and tennis player. Jayme loved her dog, Rocky.

Jayme was survived by her mother, Donna (Paul) Ceplina Funk; father, Michael (Melanie) Ceplina; siblings, Joseph (Melanie) Muldowney; Jessica and Jordyn; grandparents, Pearl Haack, Lorraine (Robert) Ceplina; and nieces, Makenna and Teagan Muldowney. She is further survived by aunts, uncles, other relatives and friends. Jayme was preceded in death by her grandfather, Edwin Haack.

The funeral service was held on Sunday, 16 September at the Phillip Funeral Home Chapel (1420 West Paradise Drive, West Bend, WI 53095) where the Reverend John Bass presided. The visitation was held at the funeral home on Sunday, 16 September. Interment took place at Holy Trinity Cemetery in Newburg on Monday, 17 September.

Erwin C. Karow Jr.

      Erwin C. Karow Jr., also known as Erv, passed away at the age of 84 years on Monday, 17 September 2012. Erwin was born on 01 May 1928, son of Erwin and Viola (nee Schossow) Karow. He served in the United States Navy on the USS Leyte aircraft carrier and always looked forward to the annual Navy reunions. Erwin was employed at Murphy Diesel for over 47 years. He enjoyed hunting and gardening.

Erwin was survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Laurine (nee Gehrs); children, Erwin “Skip” (Colleen), Elizabeth “Liz” (Tom) Cardimona, Mary Kay (Brian) Seering, and Patricia “Pat” (Ben) Huffman; grandchildren, Brad and Melanie Karow, Leah Cardimona, Nikki (fiancé Ryan) Cardimona, Tess and Tina Seering, and Megan and Jacob Huffman; and brother, Keith (Ellen) Karow. He was further survived by other relatives and friends. Erwin was preceded in death by an infant brother, Erwin, and sister, Carolann Johnson.

Brian J. Cauwels

M, b. 19 December 1945, d. 17 September 2012
      Brian J. Cauwels of West Bend, Washington County, Wisconsin, USA, best known for his catch phrase “absolutely superb,” passed away at St. Luke Medical Center in Milwaukee at the age of 66 years on Monday, 17 September 2012. Brian was born on 13 December 1945 in Luverne, Minnesota, son of John and Violet (nee Lange) Cauwels. He attended a one-room elementary school near Luverne; and later attended junior high and his freshman year of high school in Magnolia, Minnesota. His family then moved to Verdi, Minnesota where he graduated from high school. Following high school, Brian served in the United States Air Force and eventually lived in California for several years following his time in the service. In the late 1970s, Brian moved to West Bend and began working at the West Bend Company. During that time he also began working for his long-time friend, Mark Jug, at MJ Stevens, as a bartender. Brian retired from the West Bend Company in the late 1990s and began working as a delivery service representative for Finishmaster in West Bend. He loved the Green Bay Packers, camping and auto racing.

Brian was survived by his five children, Craig Hammann of West Bend, Chris (Irina) Cauwels of Sussex, Cory (Beth) Cauwels of Woodbury, Minnesota, Dustin (Sarah) Cauwels of Slinger, and Tristin (Glen) Erickson of Racine; seven grandchildren, Andrea, Kelly, Elaina, Maxwell, Gabriel, Helen, and Jacob; seven brothers and sisters, Karen Belisle of Finlayson, Minnesota, Lawrence Cauwels of Worthington, Minnesota, Marilyn (John R.) Swanson of Coal Valley, Illinois, Charles (Geri) Cauwels of West Bend, Cecelia (Marlo) Williaesotams of Russell, Minnesota, Michael (Arlys) Cauwels of Hawarden, Iowa, and Luanne (Marvin) Bebensee of Brookings, South Dakota. He was further survived by his close friends, Mark Jug and Manny Tamayo; and many other relatives and friends. Brain was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Raymond; and his infant brother, Thomas.

Funeral services in remembrance of Brian were held on Thursday, 20 September at the Myrhum Patten Funeral Home, 1315 West Washington Street, West Bend. Visitation was on Thursday at the funeral home. Burial took place on Friday in Washington County Memorial Park in West Bend.

Douglas A. Kornemann

M, b. 02 September 1934, d. 16 September 2012
      Douglas A. Kornemann, also known as Doug, of Grafton, Ozaukee County, Wisconsin, USA, passed away at the age of 78 years on Sunday, 16 September 2012 at Luther Manor at River Oaks, Mequon. Douglas was born in Milwaukee, Milwaukee County on 02 September 1934, son of Albert and Madelyn (nee Peot) Kornemann. He was a graduate of Mother of Good Counsel, Messmer High School, Marquette University (earning his Bachelor of Science degree in business administration) and the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater (earning his master’s in education). He served in the United States military (Army) twice; once in the regular Army in the 1950s and later as a medic in the 32nd Division during the Berlin Crisis from 1961-1962 and was honorably discharged. Doug worked for 17 years as an inside and outside sales representative, plus store manager for Goodyear throughout Wisconsin; after which he worked for Praefke Brake for two years. Upon receiving his master’s degree in education, he taught at Gateway Technical College for a year and then became an instructor in the Marketing Department of the Business Division at Milwaukee Area Technical College, teaching sales, advertising and internship courses for over 25 years. Before retiring, he had become the Marketing Department chairman. He helped mentor and coach the MATC DECCA Club students, developing sales promotion and advertising campaigns for national competition, along with doing the same for his students competing in AAA competitions held in Madison each March. Many of his students competed and won many kudos. He also served in committees that helped to develop a marriage between business needs and the needs of the MATC students. Upon retirement in May 2002, he traveled with his wife, Judy, played golf many times a week, took art classes, worked out at Feith YMCA five times a week, consulted companies giving them marketing ideas and mentored his graduates of MATC.

Douglas and his surviving wife, Judith R. “Judy” Kornemann, were married for 52 years, living 45 of those years in Grafton. He is also survived by his son, Michael D. Kornemann (Phyllis) of Madison, his son, David D. Kornemann of Shorewood, his daughter, Susan E. Kornemann Hansen (Michael) of West Bend, and granddaughters, Amelia M. Hansen and Lydia J. Hansen.

Gene L. Schubert

      Gene L. Schubert: a memorial service was held on Sunday, 23 September 2012 at First Immanuel Lutheran Church in Cedarburg, Ozaukee County, Wisconsin, USA, for Gene L. Schubert of Cedarburg. Gene was born in Milwaukee on 10 August 1951, son of Elroy Schubert and Lucille (nee Backhaus) Schubert. He graduated from West Bend High School and later served his country in the United States National Guard. Gene passed away peacefully due to cancer at the age of 61 years on 20 September at the Aurora VNA Zilber Family Hospice in Wauwatosa, Milwaukee County.

Gene was survived by his son, Travis Schubert of West Bend; grandchildren, Nicholas and Olivia Schubert of West Bend; siblings, Bonnie (Ed) Bublitz of Jackson, Tom (Mary) Schubert of West Bend, Dan (Elaine) Schubert of West Bend, Shirley (Ken) Bublitz of Cedarburg, Chris (Ron) Wolfgram of Hudson, Jeff Schubert of Ojibwa, Steve (Lisa) Schubert of Glenbeulah, Lloyd (friend Ann) Schubert of Cedarburg, Nancy (Don) Helms of Hancock, and Keith Schubert of Cedarburg. He was further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Gene was preceded in death by his parents, Elroy and Lucille Schubert.

Frank M. Grasso

      Frank M. Grasso passed away peacefully at the age of 82 years on Thursday, 25 September 2012 at Mayo Clinic Health System—Eau Claire, Wisconsin. Frank was born in Milwaukee, Milwaukee County on 27 April 1930, son of Frank and Maria (nee Puleo) Grasso. He graduated from Lincoln High School in Milwaukee in 1949, and then served our country in Japan during the Korean War as a tank instructor. Frank married Marilyn, his high school sweetheart. He worked hard to give his family a better life. Frank was an avid fisherman and he was happiest when he was on the lake. He will be dearly missed by those who knew him and his faithful companion, Bella.

Frank was survived by his children, John (Glenda Boyd) Grasso of West Bend, Mary Ellen (Steve) Grasso-Klein of Blue Diamond, Nevada, Brian (Kelly) Grasso of Eau Claire; grandchildren, Katie (Dominic Matera) Grasso, Melissa (Tommy Roach) and Matthew Grasso, Brooks and Connor Klein; great-grandchildren, Ranae, Isaiah, Amber, and Noah; brother, Nicholas (Teresa) Grasso; and sister-in-law, Maria Grasso. He was further survived by other relatives and friends. Frank was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Marilyn; and his brother, Rosario Grasso.

A visitation was held on Sunday, 30 September at the Phillip Funeral Home Chapel (1420 West Paradise Drive, West Bend, Washington County, Wisconsin USA, 53095) followed by a funeral service. Interment of cremains was in Highland Memorial Park, New Berlin, Waukesha County.

John C. Thompson

      John C. Thompson IV, also known as Chuck, of Mequon, Ozaukee County, Wisconsin, USA, entered into Eternal Life at the age of 78 years on Friday, 28 September 2012. John was the beloved husband for 52 years of Kay Thompson. He was the loving father of Jack and Greg (DeDe) Thompson smd proud grandfather of Gavin, Eric, Reese, Stephanie and Kaylin. He was further survived by other relatives and friends.

Chuck was born in Cody, Wyoming on 28 April 1934. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy.

Memorial services was held on Saturday, 06 October at the Ozaukee Congregational Church, 1142 Lakefield Road, Grafton.

John H. Kammers

      John H. Kammers of Slinger, Washington County, Wisconnsin, USA, formerly of Milwaukee, Milwaukee County passed away at the age of 57 years on Monday, 01 October 2012 at his residence surrounded by his family. John was born in Milwaukee on 20 January 1955, son of Robert and Shirley (Sarff) Kammers. He was united in marriage to Terry Boyanz in Milwaukee on 24 April 1976. John served his country in the United States Army. He enjoyed spending time at their summer cottage and especially loved spending time outdoors deer hunting and fishing. He was known as Mr. Fix It and was an avid Packer fan. The time John spent with his grandkids was what he loved doing the most.

John was survived by his wife, Terry; children, Steven (Christine) Kammers, and Katie (Jeffrey) Schaumberg, all of West Bend; six grandkids, Alexis, Evan, Hayden, Brady, Collin, and Linsey; mother, Shirley Kammers of Milwaukee; siblings, Jeanette (Bob) D’Amico and Rob Kammers, all of Milwaukee, Tom (Jill) Kammers of West Allis, Chuck (Terri) Kammers of Clintonville, and Mary (Steve) Cychosz of Milwaukee; mother-in-law Lois Boyanz of Slinger; and his brothers and sisters-in-law, Tom Boyanz of West Allis, Paulette Henning of Slinger, and Michele (Jim) Stalewski of Random Lake. He was further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Johm was preceded in death by his father, Robert, and his father-in-law, Arvin Boyanz.

Funeral services for John were held on Saturday, 06 October at the Shimon Funeral Home, 824 Union Street (Highway 83 N), Hartford. The family greeted relatives and friends on Saturday at the funeral home.

Robert A. Boivin

      Longtime Cedarburg, Ozaukee County, Wisconsin, USA, resident Robert A. Boivin, also known as Bob, was reunited in heaven with his wife, Carol, on Wednesday, 26 September 2012 at the age of 84 years. He was born on 21 December 1927. Robert was survived by his children, David (Nancy) Boivin of Jackson, Kenneth (Jeanne) Boivin of Grafton and Ann (Tom) Ruska of Grafton; grandchildren, Ben, Melissa (Damian) and Brooke; Christie and Alex; and Christopher and Morgan; great-grandson, Anthony, and brother, Fran (Elfreida) Boivin of Cudahy, Milwaukee County. He was further survived by other relatives and friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Saturday, 29 September at St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church-North in Cedarburg. Burial with military honors was at St Francis Borgia Cemetery.

Just over 60 years ago, on 13 September 1952, Bob married Carol at St Francis Borgia Catholic Church-South. Carol passed away in April of this year. With Carol, the former city treasurer, they provided the city of Cedarburg with a combined 61 years of service. Bob’s 33 years of service started with the Cedarburg Light & Water Utility and he retired as the superintendent of the wastewater treatment facility. He also maintained the Cedarburg Outdoor Pool and was a volunteer for the Cedarburg Fire Department. Bob grew up in L’Anse, Michigan, with his brother and three sisters. His father was the private chef for Henry Ford. Bob and his family had the opportunity to personally meet Henry Ford on several occasions.

Bob proudly served in the United States Army after he graduated from high school in 1946 and was stationed in Japan. Bob served, lived and loved the city of Cedarburg and will be fondly remembered.

Henry Charles Koch

      Henry Charles Koch, also known as Hank, was born into Eternal Life at the age of 86 years on 02 October 2012. Loving husband of Alice (nee Marzari) for 60 years. Father of Henry (Debbie), Mary Alice (Thomas) Schouten, Daniel (Andreia) and Thomas (Beth). Grandfather of Phillip, Paul (Katie), Luke, Ross, John (Natalie) Van Osch, Victoria, Michael, Kathryn and Lauren and great-grandfather of Preston. Brother of Donald B. Koch of Afton, Minnesota. Further survived by other relatives and friends.

A Memorial Mass was held on Saturday, 06 October at St. Boniface Catholic Church, W204 N11940 Goldendale Rd., Germantown, Washington County, Wisconsin, USA. Burial followed in the Church Cemetery. The family received relatives and friends at the Church.

Hank was a dedicated employee of Briggs & Straton for 44 years and an active member of St. Boniface Parish. He was a WWII veteran.

John G. Dickmann

      John G. Dickmann formerly of West Bend, Washington County, Wisconsin, USA, passed away at his home in Bremerton, Washington at the age of 51 years on Friday, 28 September 2012. John was born on 24 November 1960, in West Bend, son of Walter “Bud” and Betty (nee Lochen) Dickmann. He was a 1979 graduate of West Bend East High School and continued his education at Moraine Park Technical College until enlisting in the United States Navy in 1981. John was stationed in Jacksonville, Florida and served on the USS Eisenhower until his honorable discharge in 1986. He married his high school sweetheart and love of his life, Jeanne Heiting, on 23 July 1984. After living several years in Las Cruces, New Mexico, where he was a dispatcher for the Las Cruces Police Department, the family moved to Bremerton, Washington. There, John worked as a dispatcher for Kitsap County Cencom and later for the Department of Defense Regional Dispatch Center at the Bangor Naval Submarine Base until the time of his retirement in 2010. John enjoyed riding his Harley, watching the Green Bay Packers and movies, reading newspapers and good books, cooking, gardening, crossword puzzles, and politics, but most of all, relaxing and spending time with his wife and dogs in their park-like backyard.

John was survived by his wife, Jeanne; his daughter, Sarah Dickmann of Seattle; his mother Betty Dickmann of West Bend; his sister, Diane (Ken) Troedel of Waupaca; his parents-inlaw, Raymond and Mary Heiting of Plymouth; sisters-in-law, Laurie Schall of Sauk City and Beth (Rick) Olsen of Glen Beulah; brother-in-law, Steve (Connie) Heiting of Minocqua; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends, as well as his beloved German shepherds, Elsa, Reagan and Buffy. Predeceasing John was his father, Walter Dickmann, his paternal grandparents Meta and Theodore Dickmann, and his maternal grandparents Ollie and Stella Lochen.

A private burial was held in Bremerton, Washington.

Robert Puestow

M, b. 11 November 1942, d. 04 October 2012
      Robert Puestow, also known as Dusty, of the town of Barton, Washington County, Wisconsin, USA, passed away at the age of 69 years on Thursday, 04 October 2012, on the family farm, in the same room that he was born in. Robert was born on 11 November 1942, son of Arthur R. and Edna (nee Wickert) Puestow Sr. He attended West Bend schools and then served in the United States Army. After his discharge he returned to the farm and operated it with his brother until his retirement. Even after his retirement, he still enjoyed watching the crops grow and be harvested. Robert enjoyed playing sheepshead and shaking dice with his friends.

Robert was survived by two sisters, Florence Mueller of Kiel and Lucille (Clyde) Crass of West Bend; a brother, Roman (Lorraine) Puestow of West Bend; a sister-in-law, Gwendolyn Puestow of West Bend; a nephew, Steven (Patricia) Puestow of Jackson, and their children, Carolyn, Benjamin, and Generose; and other nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. He was preceded in death by four brothers, Lester (Elva) Puestow, Arnold Puestow, Melvin (Regina) Puestow, and Arthur Puestow Jr; and a brother-in-law, Melvin Mueller.

A graveside service was held on Saturday, 06 October at Washington County Memorial Park in West Bend. Visitation was at the Myrhum-Patten Funeral Home at 1315 West Washington Street, West Bend, on Saturday.

Robert J. Sielaff

      Robert J. Sielaff passed away at the age of 86 years on 04 October 2012. He was survived by his wife Yvonne M. Valliere. Robert was the father of the late Renee Miller and grandfather of Thomas A. and Jon R. Miller. He was the brother of Ralph, Grace Preket and Ruthe. Robert was further survived by other relatives and friends.

He attended the University of Wisconsin, Madison campus and was graduated from the Graduate School of Banking in Madison. Robert retired as Vice President of F&M Bank, Menomonee Falls and Lannon Offices. He was previously an officer of the Peshtigo National Bank. Robert was a veteran of WWII, United States Navy Seabees serving in the South Pacific. He was a Past Master and 50 year member of the Peshtigo Lodge 218 F&AM, Past Patron of Peshtigo Chapter #208 OES, Past Director and Impresario Emeritus of Milwaukee Court 101, Royal Order of Jesters, Past President of the Lannon Lions, Past District Governor, Wisconsin Lions District 27-A2 and Past Director of the Wisconsin Lions Foundation. Robert was also a member of Tripoli Shrine, Legion of Honor, Red Fez, Waukesha County Shrine Club, Wisconsin Bowhunters, Wisconsin Vintners Association and the 113th Seabee Association. He was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Menomonee Falls.

Private Services were held. Internment was at Riverside Cemetery, Peshtigo, Wisconsin.

Don R. Le Duc

M, b. 07 April 1933, d. 03 October 2012
      Don R. Le Duc of the town of Cedarburg, Ozaukee County, Wisconsin, USA, passed away at the age of 79 years at Horizon Hospice in Mequon early Wednesday morning on 03 October 2012. Don was born in South Milwaukee on 07 April1933, son of Raymond and Roberta Zilg Le Duc. He attended local schools and was graduated from University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee campus with a Bachelor’s Degree in history. Don served his country in the United States Army before continuing his education. He received his law degree from Marquette University in 1962 and later earned his Ph.D. in mass communications from University of Wisconsin-Madison campus.

On 24 October 1959, Don was united in marriage with Alice Pranica at St. Louis Catholic Church in Abrams. The couple lived in Milwaukee before moving to Madison, Dane County. After Don began teaching, they moved to Maryland and Ohio. Don was a professor of mass communications at University of Wisconsin-Madison campus from 1972 to 1984, at the University of Alabama from 1985 to 1987 where he held the Ronald Reagan Chair of Communication, and then at University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee campus until he retired in 1997. Don was a true renaissance man; as well as teaching, he was the published author of four textbooks, enjoyed poetry, classical music and had a passion for building model railroads and electric trolleys. Most importantly, Don loved spending time with his family.

Don was survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Alice; their two children, Paul (Robin) Le Duc of Sussex and Marie (Mark) Mejac of Elm Grove; and three grandchildren, Paul, Sara and AJ. He is further survived by brothers- and sisters-in-law, Alan (Valerie) Pranica and Bernie (Kerry) Pranica, both of Sobieski, John (Becky) Pranica of Appleton, Renee (Denny) Heikkila of Iron River, Michigan, and Susie Forrest of Osswego; as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law, Tom Pranica.

Funeral services for Don were held on Saturday, 06 October at the Eernisse Funeral Home, 1167 Washington Avenue, Cedarburg. Father Jim Ernster officiated. He was laid to rest with Military Honors at Zur Ruhe Cemetery in Cedarburg following the service. The family received visitors on Saturday at the funeral home.

Thomas C. Gross

      Thomas C. Gross, also know as Tom, 74, of West Bend, Washington County, Wisconsin, USA, passed away at his residence at the age of 74 years on Friday, 06 October 2012. Tom was born in Milwaukee on 09 January 1938, son of Ilo and Henrietta (nee Manz) Gross. He was graduated from Washington High School. Tom served his country honorably in the United States Navy. He then went on to graduate from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee compus with a master’s in art. After teaching at several colleges, Tom came to West Bend in 1968 as the first professor of fine arts at the University of Wisconsin-Washington County campus. In 2001, Tom retired as professor-emeritus of Fine Arts after 35 years in the Wisconsin University system. He was united in marriage in Mauthe Lake State Park to Jo Atwood on 20 May 1977.

Tom was survived by his wife, Jo Gross of West Bend; two children, Justice Madl (fiancée, Lisa) and Gwen (Mike) Morgan, both of West Bend; sister, Betty (Ed) Woskowski of Beaver Dam; and other relatives and friends.

In honor of Tom’s wishes, there was no formal services.

David S. St. Louis

M, b. 08 June 1949, d. 07 October 2012
      David St. Louis, also know as Dave, passed away at the age of 63 years on Sunday, 07 October 2012. David was born on 08 June 1949, in Antigo, Langlade County, Wisconsin, USA, son of Elmer and Caroline (nee Debroux) St. Louis. He was a graduate of West Bend High School, Washington County, class of 1967. After high school, he enlisted in the United States Marines Corps and dedicated three years of service to his country. Dave enjoyed music. He began playing guitar as a teen and shared his music in several bands including the Sandmen and Rebound. Dave was owner of Charter Security Systems for 26 years, and he was also employed for more than 30 years as a Washington County deputy sheriff until his retirement in 2001.

Dave was survived by his loving companion of 15 years, Mary Ellen Drummy; brother Lee (Bonnie) St. Louis and sister Clara Wolf; nieces and nephews Brian (Diane), Curt, Rob, James (Deana), Mary (Tom), Charles, and Harold (Lisa); and many other relatives and dear friends. He was also missed by his beloved cats, Pipe and Louie. Dave was preceded in death by his parents, sister Mary Jane (Henry) McGuire; brother-in-law Simon Wolf; niece Janet Minger; and nephew Donald Wolf.

Per Dave’s request, no formal services was held.

Richard D. Schlice

      Richard D. Schlice, also known as Dick, of Kewaskum, Washington County, Wisconsin, USA, passed away at the age of 79 years at Horizon Hospice in Mequon on Thursday, 11 October 2012. Richard was born in Stevens Point on 26 November 1932, son of James and Martha (Sommers) Schlice. On 05 May 1962, Dick was united in marriage to Shirley Kalepp in Abbotsford. He served his country in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War. Dick was employed by the West Bend Company in West Bend, retiring in 1995 after 30 years of service. He was a member of Peace United Church of Christ in Kewaskum, the West Bend Moose Lodge 1398 and the Kohlsville Sportsmen’s Club. Dick served as a village of Kewaskum Trustee and on the Police and Fire Commission Board for many years. He was an avid supporter of youth sports and was a founder of the Kewaskum Booster Club. Dick especially enjoyed supporting his grandchildren in their sporting activities. Dick was an avid Wisconsin Badger football fan.

Those Dick leaves behind to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 50 years, Shirley; five children, Debra (John) Hill of Cypress, Texas, Cathy (John) Brunnquell of Port Washington, Randy (Missy) Schlice of Kewaskum, Bonnie (Keith) Herman of Wayne, and Marty (Dean) Kehl of Watertown; 15 grandchildren, Sarah, Rebecca and Adam Brunnquell, Allison and Lauren Hill, Kyra, Brady and Alyce Herman, Grace and Nathan Kehl, Ryan, Cody and Brett Nuernberg, and TJ and Dean Schlice; a sister, Catherine Lee of Wisconsin Rapids; two sisters-in-law, Hilde Schlice and Louise Schlice both of Stevens Point; and other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, Dick was preceded in death by five brothers, Glenn, Don, Bob, Bill, and Jim Schlice and two sisters, Margaret Trombley and Dorothy Knudson.

A memorial service was held on Saturday, 20 October at Peace United Church of Christ in Kewaskum where the Reverend Eric Kirkegaard officiated. Military honor rites by members of the Kewaskum Robert G. Romaine American Legion Post 384 followed the service at the church cemetery. Inurnment of his cremains was in the church cemetery.
