Clifford A. Hale

      Clifford A. Hale, also known as Cliff, passed away at the age of 84 years on Sunday, 26 May 2013. Cliff was born in Milwaukee, son of Clifford and Ella (Nee Krivitz) Hale. He proudly served in the United States Army and was a member of the West Bend Lt. Ray Dickop American Legion Post 36.

Cliff was survived by his wife Ann (Nee Hoffmann) Hale; his five children: Clifford III (Teri) Hale, Tracy (Keith) Schmidt, Meredith (Fred) Geidel, William (Sue) Hale and Stephanie Hale; his five stepsons: Dana (Diane) Alioto, Keith (Jill) Alioto, Glenn (Betty) Alioto, Steve (Diana) Alioto, Michael (Dawn) Alioto; his 16 grandchildren: Lynita, Emilee, Tyler, Travis, Kyle, Shane, MacKenna, Dustin, Justyn, Jordyn, Andrea, Gina, Lisa, Maria, Chiara and Gianna; eight great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and his infant son Keith.

A Memorial Service was celebrated on Saturday, 01 June at Phillip Funeral Home Chapel (1420 West Paradise Drive, West Bend). A visitation was held at the funeral home on Saturday.

Danny John Fullington I

M, b. 29 January 1937, d. 22 May 2013
      A celebration of life was held on Friday, 31 May 2013 at St. John Lutheran Church, 217 North Freeman Drive, Port Washington, Ozaukee County, Wisconsin, USA for Danny John Fullington I, of Fredonia. Visitation took place on Friday at the church. Danny entered into Eternal Life on 22 May 2013 at the age of 76. He was born in West Allis, Milwaukee County on 29 January 1937, son of Raymond Balford Fullington and Marie Margaret (nee Mlakar) Fullington. Danny graduated from Nathan Hale High School in 1955 and later served his country in the United States Navy from 1956 until 1960. After being honorably discharged from the Navy, Danny married his sweetheart, Annette Bryan, on 21 August 1960 in Milton, Florida. Their marriage was blessed with four sons. Danny worked for the United States Postal Service from 1961 to 1992 and was a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. He served as postmaster of Grafton for many years, and was responsible for the planning and construction of the current Grafton Post Office building. He was a cofounder of the Grafton Gladiators, which grew into the current All American Youth Football League of Southeastern Wisconsin. Over his lifetime, Danny coached for many track and football teams, as well as being a lifetime member of Lion’s Club International. He also volunteered as a full-time sixth to eighth grade teacher at St. John’s Lutheran Academy in Port Washington. Danny drove a bus for the Johnson Bus Company.

Danny was the beloved husband for 52 years to Annette (nee Bryan) Fullington; devoted father of Danny Fullington II, William Fullington, Timothy Fullington and Michael (Cheryl) Fullington; a proud and cherished grandfather of Nolan, Nina, Hayden, Brianna, Nicholas, Alexandra, Taylor and Christian; and dear brother of Rita (Gerald) Martin and Raymond (Linda) Fullington. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Danny was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Gloria Boesel, and brother, Richard Fullington.

Robert R. Lippe

M, b. 11 April 1947, d. 28 May 2013
      Robert R. Lippe, also known as Bob, of Partridge Court in Cedarburg, Ozaukee County, Wisconsin, USA passed away at the age of 66 years at his residence early Tuesday morning, 28 May 2013. Robert was born in Port Washington on 11 April 1947, son of Lloyd and Delores (nee Meyer) Lippe. The family lived in Saukville and Bob attended local schools, proudly graduating from Port Washington High School with the class of 1965. He served in the United States Army in Korea during the Vietnam era. On 18 April 1970, Bob was united in marriage with Alice Adams at St. Peter of Alcantara Catholic Church in Port Washington. The couple settled in Milwaukee to raise their family. Bob worked for the city of Mequon in the public works department. He retired as operations superintendent in 2008 after 39 years on the job. Bob and Alice moved to Cedarburg in 1997. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Grafton, as well as a member of the American Public Works Association. He enjoyed traveling and was a fan of local sports teams, including the Wisconsin Badgers, Marquette Golden Eagles and the Green Bay Packers. Bob enjoyed working around the house and frequently helped his daughters with home projects of their own. He enjoyed talking to people and learning their interests and points of view.

Bob was survived by his wife, Alice; and their two daughters, Jill (Sean) Marshall of Waterford and Becky (Rudolph J.) Kuss of Grafton. He was further survived by four grandchildren, Rudy and Lauren Kuss of Grafton, and Jessica and Amber Marshall of Waterford; two brothers, Richard Lippe of Toronto, Canada, and James (Jacklyn) Lippe of The Villages, Florida. Other survivors include his mother-in-law, Marjorie Adams of Port Washington; four sisters-in-law, Margaret Adams of Port Washington, Nancy (Paul Clausing) Adams of Durham, North Carolina, Janet (the late Michael) Trzecinski , also of Port Washington, and Carol (Jeff) Fritsche of Silverton, Oregon; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Bob was preceded in death by his parents.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Friday, 31 May at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 1619 Washington Street, Grafton. Father Michael Barrett presided. The family received visitors at church on Friday.

William T. Miller

      William T. Miller of West Bend, Washington County, Wisconsin, USA formerly of Cedarburg, Ozaukee County passed away at the age of 80 years at his home on Sunday, 02 June 2013. William was born in Milwaukee on 29 April 1933, son of Edwin and Eleanor (nee Hahn) Miller. On 28 February 1959, he was united in marriage to Beverly M. Pawlowski at Sherman Park Lutheran Church in Milwaukee. William and Beverly made their home in Cedarburg for over 30 years. Beverly preceded William in death on 05 May 2011. William served his country in the United States Army. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Grafton.

Those William left behind to cherish his memory included three children, Mark W. Miller of Riverwest, Eric W. Miller of Milwaukee and Catherine M. Miller (David Zotter) of West Bend; four grandchildren, Alyce, Abigail, Taylor and Alex; a brother, Tom Miller of Grove, Illinois; two sisters, Susan (Elmer) Hamann of Wauwatosa and Mary (Frank) Koudelka of Milwaukee, and other relatives and friends. Funeral services for William were held on Friday, 07 June at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 701 Washington Street in Grafton. Pastor Kenton Wendorf officiated. Burial, with military honor rites, was on Saturday in Riverside Cemetery in Appleton.

Leo Bruce Archambeau

M, b. 30 June 1931, d. 01 June 2013
      Leo Bruce Archambeau of Mequon, Ozaukee County, Wisconsin, USA born on 30 June 1932, found peace at the age of 80 years and joined his wife Jeanne, of 50 years on 01 June 2013. He was an American patriot who served in the United States Navy during the Korean War.

Leo was the beloved father to Brett, Christine, Bruce, Noelle, and Linda; and adored pepere to Sophia, Aiden, and a soon-to-arrive granddaughter.

A Funeral Mass was held on Saturday, 15 June at Lumen Christi Church, 2700 West Mequon Road, Mequon. Visitation was held Saturday at the Church until the time of the Mass.

Daniel L. Grotkiewicz

M, b. 07 July 1947, d. 08 June 2013
      Daniel L. Grotkiewicz, also known as Dan, of Grafton, Ozaukee County, Wisconsin, USA passed away at his residence at the age of 65 years on Saturday, 08 June 2013, after being stricken with pancreatic cancer. Daniel was born in Milwaukee on 07 July 1947, son of Chester and Emily (nee Trawicki) Grotkiewicz. Dan served in the United States Army during the Vietnam era. On 17 September 1977, he married Carol Ann Surges at Advent Lutheran Church in Cedarburg. Dan worked as a production machinist at PACE Industries, formerly EST Company in Grafton for the past 33 1/2 years. He was a member and past commander of the Saukville American Legion Post 470, and a former member and past commander of Cedarburg American Legion Post 288. Dan enjoyed photography, model railroading, and spending time with his family and his dog, Hoover.

Daniel was survived by his wife, Carol Ann; his children, Mark of Grafton and Sarah of Cedarburg; his brother, Alan (Linda) Grotkiewicz of Glendale; his mother-in-law, Bertha Surges of Fredonia; sister-in-law, Linda (John) Spangler of Illinois; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

A funeral service was held Thursday, 13 June at Advent Lutheran Church, W63 N642 Washington Avenue, Cedarburg, followed by military honors. Visitation was at the church on Thursday.

Gene O. Picard

M, b. 13 November 1930, d. 02 June 2013
      Gene O. Picard of Cedarburg, Ozaukee County, Wisconsin, USA passed away of lung cancer at the age of 82 years at Horizon Hospice in Mequon on 02 June 2013. Gene was born in Milwaukee on 13 November 1930, son of Clarence and Myrtle (nee Shufelt) Picard. On 17 September 1955, Gene was united in marriage to Jacquie Meinert. Gene graduated with a photographic degree from Layton School of Art. He served in the United States Army and was a personal photographer for General Clark in Hawaii. Gene received his masters degree in photography in 1969. He owned and operated Colonial Studio in Cedarburg and was known as Uncle Gene to many of the people he photographed. Gene will be sadly missed by his family and his many friends.

Gene was survived by his wife of 57 years, Jacquie; two sisters-in-law, Judy (Jim) Lamers and Darlene Meinert; nieces and nephews Andrea Picard (Keith) Walters, Jeff (Geri) Picard, Lance Meinert, Scot Lamers, Cori (Grant) Ellis, Daniel Seitz, Debbie Seitz and Denise (John) Frank; and many great nieces and nephews. Gene was preceded in death by his brother, Philip; sister, Collette Seitz; and brother-in-law James Meinert.

Private services were held.

Richard Evan Myers

M, b. 19 November 1921, d. 09 June 2013
      Richard Evan Myers, also known as Dick, died quietly in his sleep at the age of 91 years at Evergreen Terrace on Sunday, 09 June 2013. Richard was born in Waynesburg, Pennsylvania on 19 November 1921, son of Frank Myers and Mildred Rice Beeman. He served in the United States Air Force in the European Theater from 1942-1945. After the war, he was graduated from the University of Alabama with a degree in industrial engineering. Richard married Jean Johnson on 08 December 1945. Jean predeceaded him on 20 June 2009. After living in Alabama, Ohio and Virginia, Dick and Jean moved to West Bend where Gene took a job with Regal Ware Company where they lived for 37 years. They were longtime members of the Fifth Avenue United Methodist Church. Dick enjoyed gardening, photography, traveling and woodworking. In 2007 they moved to Antigo where Dick resided at Pine Meadow apartments and Jean at Rosalia Gardens.

Dick was survived by two sons, Richard (Rick) Myers of Fountain Valley, California, and John “Randy” Myers and his wife Jamie of Polar, and two grandchildren Aubrey and Cory, both of Antigo. He is further survived by a sister-in-law, Glenda Johnson, Tucson, Arizona, two nephews Hill (Sarah) Johnson, Tucson, Arizona, and Glen (Jennifer) Colorado Springs, Colorado, and three great-nieces, Maggie, Zoë and Victoria.

George C. Lang

M, b. 29 February 1932, d. 01 June 2007
      George C. Lang passed away at the age of 75 years on Friday, 01 June 2007 at SynergyHealth St. Joseph Hospital, town of Polk. George was born in DeFuniac Springs, Florida on 29 February 1932, son of George and Theresa (nee Rettenberger) Lang. He was raised in Milwaukee and graduated from Messmer High School in 1950. After high school, he served four years in the United States Air Force as an aerial photographer. George then attended Milwaukee School of Engineering. He married Carol Lang on 09 June 1956 at St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church in West Bend. George worked as a plumber for the next 45 years at various companies. He was a member of Plumbers Local 75 and the Moose Lodge. After retirement, George was a mentor at The Threshold. His favorite pastimes included photography, fishing, yard work and flying.

George was survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Carol; his cherished children, Daniel (Karla) of Big Bend, Jean (Randy) Groth of Menomonee Falls, Joan (Michael) Gasser of Prentice, Steve (Pam) of West Bend and Stephanie of Grafton; 14 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He was further survived by nephews, other relatives and many dear friends. Preceding him in death were a brother and sister-in-law, Edward and Nancy.

A memorial service was held on Tuesday, 05 June at The Phillip Funeral Home Chapel, 1420 West Paradise Drive, West Bend. Visitation with family and friends was held at the funeral home on Tuesday.

John M. Cain

      John M. Cain, resident of Fond du Lac and former longtime resident of Thiensville, Ozaukee County, Wisconsin, USA passed away at the age of 84 years on Sunday, 03 June 2007. Funeral services were held on Wednesday, 06 June at Crossroads Presbyterian Church, 6031 West Chapel Hill Road (N.W. corner of Green Bay Road and Highland Road) in Mequon. The family received friends at the church on Wednesday prior to the funeral service. A second funeral service and visitation will be held on Thursday, 07 June at the Milwaukee Rescue Mission "John M. Cain Chapel," (830 North 19 Street) in Milwaukee. Visitation took place prior to the funeral service. Burial was private for the family at Green Ridge Cemetery in Kenosha.

John proudly served his country in the United States Army during World War II. During the battle of Okinawa, John received from General Bradley, the Silver Star for gallantry in action on the battlefield. He was graduated with honors from the University of Cincinnati with a double major in engineering and business. He was a successful business owner of Cain Industries in Germantown. His life was devoted to his loving family and the Milwaukee Rescue Mission.

John was the devoted and loving husband of the late Marjorie Jean Cain; the beloved father of John S. Cain of Mequon, Christine (David) Carew of Fond du Lac and Linda (Daniel) Gagne of Green Lake; the very proud grandfather of Benjamin Kaestner, Jacob, Tyler (Mary), Adam and Arthur Gagne; and the loving great-grandfather of Hayden James and Shelby Lynn Gagne. He was further survived by other relatives and many wonderful friends. John was preceded in death by his dear brothers Dwight and James Cain.

Earl R. Eernisse

      Earl R. Eernisse of Grafton, Ozaukee County, Wisconsion, USA, formerly of Port Washington and Cedarburg died at his residence at the age of 86 years on Saturday, 02 June 2007. Earl was born in Grafton on 21 May 1921, son of Oscar and Viola (nee Staewen) Eernisse. He was graduated from Grafton High School in 1940 and served in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II. While in the service, he met and married Georgia Fluharty on 05 October 1944 at Ft. Worth Air Base chapel in Ft. Worth, Texas. Earl retired as a machinist from International Harvester Company in Milwaukee where he worked for 33 years. He also worked as a mechanic for Eidenberger Texaco in Cedarburg for many years. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Cedarburg, Grafton Rose-Harms American Legion Post 355 and the China Burma India Veterans Association. Earl was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed woodworking and spending time at his cabin in Carter.

Earl was survived by his wife Georgia; four children Linda (Mark) May of Grafton, Marc (Grace) Eernisse of Port Washington, Sue (Harold "Toby") Thobaben of Sheridan, Wyoming, and Ann Eernisse of Cedarburg; 11 grandchildren Carrie Jo, Todd, Craig, Brianne, Jennifer, Jill, Joseph, Jayne, Liz, Clint and Kristin; 18 great-grandchildren; one sister Ruth (the late Clarence) Fiedler of Wild Rose; and three brothers Robert (Marvelle) Eernisse of Grafton, Donald (Jean) Eernisse of Cedarburg and James (Carol) Eernisse of Wabeno. He was further survived by sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

The funeral was on Friday, 08 June at Trinity Lutheran Church, N60 W6047 Columbia Road, Cedarburg where Reverend Charles Turbin officiated. Burial with full military honors was in Immanuel Cemetery, Cedarburg. Visitation was at the Eernisse Funeral Home, 1600 West Grand Avenue, Port Washington on Thursday and at the church on Friday. Rose-Harms American Legion Post 355 service Thursday.

Arthur H. Liebau

      Arthur H. Liebau, also known as Art, of Mequon, Ozaukee County, Wisconsin, USA passed away at the age of 74 years on Tuesday, 29 May 2007. Funeral services and visitation were held on 01 June at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Mequon. Interment with full military honors took place on 02 June at Old Settlers Rest Cemetery in Mequon.

Arthur was born in Mequon on 10 April 1933 and was a lifelong Mequon resident. He was the owner of Liebau-Laun Wells and Pumps of Mequon. Art raced stock cars in the 1950s. He was a veteran of the United States Navy, a Seabee serving during the Korean conflict. Art was a former Ozaukee County Supervisor and a member of St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Mequon, the Thiensville-Mequon Lions Club, the Mequon Howard J. Schroeder American Legion Post 457 and the Wisconsin Water Well Association.

Art was preceded in death by his wife of 40 years Marion (nee Kraus). He was survived by his son Arthur J. (Jean) Liebau; his grandchildren Elizabeth and Arthur R. Liebau; his sister Marcia; and other relatives and friends.

John M. Skowbo

      John M. Skowbo of Grafton, Ozaukee County, Wisconsin, USA passed away at the age of 90 years at Cedar Gardens in Cedarburg on Sunday afternoon, 27 May 2007. John was born on 19 April 1917 in Emmetsburg, Iowa, son of Arthur and Nancy (nee Reiken) Skowbo. After attending the University of Iowa, John enlisted in the United States Navy and served during World War II. On 16 November 1941, he was united in marriage to Mabel Luedtke in Marble Head, Massachusetts. Mabel preceded him in death on 14 October 1998. John worked as a tool engineer for Kickhaefer Manufacturing Company in Grafton and retired in 1982. He enjoyed hunting and fishing in his earlier years and was a person of religious faith.

John was survived by his son Philip (Susan) Skowbo of Port Washington; his granddaughters Betsy (Michael) Ketter of Brookfield and Joan (Thomas) Treba of Wausau; and his sister-in-law Alice Luedtke of Iowa. He is further survived by nieces and nephews along with other relatives and friends.

At John’s request, no funeral services was held. His cremated remains were buried at sea in the Atlantic Ocean.

L. Thomas Bell

      L. Thomas Bell, also known as Tom, entered into eternal life at the age of 71 years on Monday, 01 January[?] 2007 at the Anaheim Medical Center in Anaheim, California. Tom was born in Milwaukee on 16 July 1935, son of Arlet G. and Ellen M. (nee Johnson) Bell. He was a 1954 graduate of West Bend High School. Shortly after graduation, due to his open dislike of the Wisconsin winter weather, he left Wisconsin for "sunny" Florida. Tom served his country honorably in the United States Army for three years, most of which was spent in Puerto Rico. While he was there he met his wife, Rosa Chacon, and they were married in 1959 in Puerto Rico. They had one son, Peter. Tom moved back to the mainland to Cypress, California in 1984, where he enjoyed the weather immensely. His last visit to Wisconsin was in July of 1997 to visit the family and attend the South Center School reunion.

Thomas was survived by his son, Peter and Peter’s mother, Rosa Chicon of Stephenville, Texas; and a granddaughter, Kira, of Milwaukee. He was further survived by a sister, Donna Klumb of Jackson; three brothers, John (Kathy) of Menomonee Falls, William (Carol) of Mukwonago, and Dennis (Marlene) of Cedarburg; a sister-in-law, Laurie Bell of Cedar-burg; and a brother-in-law Roy Herbener of West Bend; along with many nieces and nephews. Tom was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Kathy Hebener; four brothers, Richard, Robert, Jerold and Peter Bruce: as well as a sister-in-law, Diane.

A graveside memorial service was held on Saturday, 09 June at Our Savior’s Church, Highway G in Germantown, with Reverend Jane Terry presided.

Brian J. Homz

M, b. 22 April 1967, d. 05 June 2007
      Brian J. Homz of Allenton, Washington County, Wisconsin, USA entered into eternal peace at the ageof 40 years on Tuesday, 05 June 2007 at Madison Veterans Hospital, after a courageous battle with cancer. Brian was born in Milwaukee on 22 April 1967, son of John and Yvonne (nee Deschaine) Homz. He was raised in the Allenton area and graduated from Slinger High School in 1985. After graduation, Brian enlisted in the United States Marines and served for eight years as an aviation ordinance technician. He later graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh, having earned his master’s degree. Brian was a dedicated employee of Accenture Consulting for the past four years.

Brian was deeply missed by his son, Brent Homz; his daughter, Aleeya Homz; his parents, John and Yvonne Homz of Allenton; and his brother, Dave Homz of West Bend. He was further survived by other special relatives and many dear friends. Brian was preceded in death by his paternal and maternal grandparents.

A graveside funeral service was held in honor of Brian on Monday, 11 June at the Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Union Grove.

Forence J. Meyer

F, b. 21 March 1915, d. 08 June 2007
      Florence J. Meyer, nee Juech, of West Bend, Washington County, Wisconsin, USA died at the age of 92 years on Friday, 08 June 2007 at the Samaritan Health Center. Florence was born in West Bend on 31 March 1915, daughter of Arthur W. and Caroline A. (nee Reiland) Juech. After graduating from high school, she served with the United States Navy. Following her discharge, she returned to West Bend. After her marriage to Frederick J. Meyer, they moved to Racine, living there for 15 years. They then returned to West Bend and it was at this time that Florence ran a catering business out of her home for a number of years. She later moved to Green Bay to be closer to her daughter. For the past three years, Florence has been a resident at the Samaritan Health Center. She enjoyed life. As a resident of the Samaritan Health Center, she raised and cared for butterflies. This story became an article in the Daily News. She also enjoyed traveling to no place in particular, just whereever her travels would take her. She was a member of the West Bend Fred A. Schaefer Veterans of Foreigh Wars Post 1393 and the National Catholic Society of Foresters Court #574.

Florence was survived by four children, Jack of West Bend, Carl "Corky" (Sue) of Kewaskum, Joyce (Dennis) Held of Hatley and Frederick, Jr. (Tracy) of West Bend; 15 grandchildren Eric (Joni), Tanya, John (Kim), Jeremiah, Tashina, Kyra, Ian, Nicole (John) Quillan, Shawn (Jane) Hansen, Troy Hansen, Chris (Kathy) Held, Sami, Max, Jill and Patrick; 16 great-grandchildren; her stepmother, Lucy Keller of Marshfield, a sister-in-law Margaret Duernberger of West Bend; other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband on 26 November 1970, two daughters Jill and Margie (Gerald) Krcil and three brothers Wilbur, Martin and Dan Juech.

A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial was held on Sunday, 10 June at St. Mary Immaculate Conception Catholic Church where Father Michael Moran presidied. Burial of the urn was in St. Mary Cemetery (old).

The family greeted relatives and friends at the church on Sunday and during a reception in the church hall following the Mass.

Richard H. Fischer

M, b. 25 November 1925, d. 09 June 2007
      Richard H. Fischer, also known as Dick, of West Bend, Washington County, Wisconsin, USA entered into eternal peace at Columbia St. Mary Ozaukee at the age of 81 years on Saturday, 09 June 2007. Dick was born in Oconto on 26 November 1925, son of Richard G. and Isabel (nee Kaufman) Fischer. His family later moved to the Mayville area, where he graduated from Mayville High School in 1943. On 02 March 1974, Dick married Delores J. "De De" Engeleiter-Strupp. He was a dedicated employee of the Wisconsin Telephone Company as a staff manager for 39 honorable years. Dick was a Merchant Marine in World War II. He was a member of the Wautoma Lions Club and Telephone Pioneers. He was past president of Dairyland Council of Telephone Pioneers and past president of Chapter Four of Telephone Pioneers.

Richard was deeply missed by his loving wife of 33 years, Delores; children, Richard (Dorothy) Fischer of Loveland, Colorado, Priscilla (John) Strasser and Mary Ann (William) Steitz, both of Germantown, Gail (Daniel) Heinecke of Colgate, Susan (Doug) Clark of Loveland, Steven (Sandy) Strupp of West Bend, Joanne (Tim) DeLeon of Fort Collins, Colorado, John Strupp and Marbella Vejar of Chicago, Illinois and Steven (Rhonda) Fischer of Menomonee Falls; his 19 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and two great-great-grandchildren. He was further survived by his siblings, Robert (Wanda) Fischer of Oconomowoc, Mary Burke of Waukesha, Millie Hayes of Mukilteo, Washington, Paul (Lee) Fischer of Wilmette, Illinois, Ruth Ragatz of Santa Rosa, California, Sister Agnes Fischer of Green Bay, Marge (Larry) Lamphere of Waterford, Michigan, Joe (Sandra) Fischer of Tucson, Arizona and Betty (Ron) Rempp of Henderson, Nevada; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Leatrice Strupp, Richard Mollwitz, Min (Wayne) Nokes, Dave (Vi) Engeleiter and LouAnn (Gary) Riley; other special relatives and many dear friends. Dick was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Dorothy Fischer; a brother, Frank Fischer; his son, Jody D. Strupp; and his first wife, Fern.

A Mass of Christian Burial in memory of Dick was held on Thursday, 14 June at St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church, 1025 North Seventh Avenue, West Bend, where Father Jeffrey Haines officiated. Visitation with family and friends was held at the church on Thursday prior to the Mass. Interment took place in Washington County Memorial Park, West Bend on Friday.

Gordon Ernest Schmidt

M, b. 10 September 1925, d. 05 June 2007
      Gordon Ernest Schmidt of Slinger, Washington County, Wisconsin, USA was welcomed home by his Lord at the Hartford Care Center at the age of 81 years on Tuesday, 05 05 June 2007. Gordon was born in Beaver Dam on 10 September 1925, son of Ernest and Emma (nee Schultz) Schmidt. He served in the Second World War, serving his country honorably in the United States Navy in the Naval Amphibious Forces. After discharge from the Navy, Gordon was employed as a factory worker for John Deere of Horicon. It was during this time that he met the love of his life Louise H. Grahn and they were married in Waukegan, Illinois on 02 May 1949. Gordon later worked for Weyenberg Shoe Co. in Beaver Dam and later for Stolper Steel in Menomonee Falls for over 30 years, retiring in 1985. Upon retirement, Gordon took a part-time position at K-Mart in Hartford. He was a dedicated member of Peace Lutheran Evangelical Church in Hartford, serving as an usher. Gordon was also a member of the Slinger[?] American Legion.

Survivors include his loving son, Dennis (Christine) Schmidt of Fox Lake; two adoring grandchildren, Stephanie (Patrick) Daute and William (Amber) Schmidt, both of West Bend; and two great-grandchildren, Zoe Schmidt and Natalie Daute. Gordon was further survived by one brother, Jack (Bunnie) Schmidt of Beaver Dam; one sister-in-law, Dorothy Schmidt of Fox Lake; as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and close friends.
He was preceded by his parents; his loving wife of 57 years, Louise; his daughter, Debbie; and one brother, Robert.

Funeral services were held at Peace Evangelical Lutheran Church in Hartford, with a committal of burial in Riverside Memorial Park Cemetery in Fox Lake.

Kenneth R. MacFarlane

M, b. 17 November 1932, d. 08 June 2007
      Kenneth R. MacFarlane, also known as Ken, of Hazelhurst, formerly of West Bend, Washington County, Wisconsin, USA entered into eternal peace at the age of 73 years at his residence on Friday, 08 June 2007. Ken was born in West Bend on 17 November 1932, son of George J. and Sylvia (nee McCaully) MacFarlane. He was raised in West Bend, and attended West Bend High School. On 09 August 1952, Kenneth married his high school sweetheart and the love of his life, Betty J. Sonnenberg. He honorably served his country in the United States Navy. Upon his return from service, he worked various jobs, and then began MacFarlane Construction. Ken and Betty lived on Big Cedar Lake for years, until they moved to Hazelhurst. Among his favorite pastimes, Ken loved hunting, fishing, golfing, spending time in the outdoors and at their place in Arizona. Above all, he loved spending time with his family and his dogs, Buster and Josey.

Kenneth was survived by his son, Wesley (Karen) MacFarlane of West Bend; his daughter, Vickie (Gerald) Miller of Antigo; a daughter-in-law, Deb MacFarlane of West Bend; his cherished grandchildren, Adam Schroepfer (fianceŽ Heather) of Antigo, Shannon MacFarlane of Illinois, Ryan Miller of Antigo, Brady MacFarlane of West Bend, Quentin MacFarlane of West Bend and Meghan MacFarlane of West Bend; and sisters-in-law, Annette MacFarlane of Almond and Frances "Fritzie" MacFar-lane of Green Bay. He was further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many dear friends. Ken was preceded in death by his parents; his loving son, Kenneth; a sister, Marguerite Ebert; a brother, Delmer Keith; and a brother-in-law, Roy Ebert.

Private funeral services were held to honor Ken’s wishes. Interment took place at Washington County Memorial Park of West Bend.

Dean L. Schatz

M, b. 04 January 1953, d. 14 June 2007
      Dean L. Schatz of West Bend, Washington County, Wisconsin, USA passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family at the age of 54 years on 14 June 2007. He went very peacefully after a six-month fight with a brain tumor. Dean was born on 04 January 1953, son of Lester and Dorothy (nee Schwamb) Schatz of Hubertus. He spent many summers as a boy in Sturgeon Bay working on his aunt and uncle’s farm. Dean graduated from Hartford High School, then the University of Whitewater with a BBA in computer science. He spent most of his adult life working for AT&T. Dean belonged to the American Legion as an active member of the West Bend Lt. Ray Dickop Post 36 serving as the Post Commander many times, editor of the Post newsletter, along with holding several other positions. He was active on committees such as being Membership Chairman, Publicity Chairman, the Post scholarship program, the Boys and Girls State program, as well as other committees too numerous to list. Many Post fundraisers were a part of his Legion life including State Bowling Tournaments, the annual steak fry, pancake breakfasts, Washington County Fair food stand, Harley Fest, West Bend Air Show, brat frys, and placing American flags on street lamps and Veterans graves every Memorial Day. Dean also participated in numerous functions at the county level which included the Memorial Day parade, high school scholarship awards, presentation of flags for foreign exchange students, and was the County Commander at the time of his passing. He was honorably discharged from the Air Force.

In his personal life, Dean loved spending time with family, coached soccer for the YMCA program, went to all the sporting events his sons participated in, enjoyed going for long walks, taking long weekends to Door County, working in his yard and flower beds, planning the family reunion every other year, going to country music shows, county fairs, and watching Packer games and sports on TV. He loved kids and they loved him; he was the number one fan of his kids. Dean was very outgoing and made many friends throughout his lifetime.

Dean left behind his very best friend and loving wife, Carolyn; son Chris (Katie Dye) and their children Sophia and Frankie; sons Matt, and Mike; step-daughter, Tiffany (Scott Lipofski) Schultz; and son, Tony; step-daughter, Amy Schultz; and step-son, Alex (Sabrina Hattery) Schultz, daughter Lilli, and step-son Gregor Schultz. Every one of the grandkids held a special place in Dean’s heart. One brother, Dale (Judy); and special nieces, Rebecca and Caitlin will all miss him terribly and will keep him in their hearts also. Dean will also be missed by his mother-in-law, Louise Cwiklinski; sisters-in-law, Joan and Anita; and brothers-in-law, Dennis and George. He was further survived by many other relatives and friends. Dean will be welcomed to join his parents in heaven along with several relatives and friends.

A visitation and Funeral Service honoring the life of Dean was held at Phillip Funeral Home (1420 West Paradise Drive, West Bend, Wisconsin 53095) on Tuesday, 29 June. Visitation was in the afternoon with the service in the evening. Interment took place on Wednesday at Zion United Methodist Cemetery in Colgate.

Donald M. Laine

M, b. 18 February 1930, d. 14 June 2007
      A celebration of the life of Donald M. Laine, also know as Don, of Cedarburg, Ozaukee County, Wisconsin, USA was held on 30 June at Advent Lutheran Church (W63 N642 Washington Avenue) in Cedarburg. Don was born to eternal life at the age of 77 years on Thursday, 14 June 2007. Reverend Dr. Janis Kinens officiated at his memorial service. The family greeted friends at the church. A private family interment was held at Zur Ruhe Cemetery.

Don was born on 18 February 1930 and raised in Conneaut, Ohio. He graduated from Conneaut High School and later from University of Wisconsin-Stout Campus. He served his country as a United States Marine in the Korean War. He was an avid athlete and sports fan. In high school he lettered in football, basketball and track. Don continued his love of sports by supporting his children and grandchildren through their various achievements. He helped originate the Little League program in Cedarburg and was a loyal fan of CHS athletic programs for many years. Don was a history buff and enjoyed reading many history novels and also belonged to the Civil War Roundtable. He was a faithful and active member of Advent Lutheran Church since joining in August, 1965. Don worked many years as a tool and die maker and then became an instructor at Moraine Park Technical College, teaching tool and die for 23 years. He retired in 1992 to enjoy special moments with his family (the love of his life), traveling, woodworking and gardening. Don was an avid Wisconsin Badger and Ohio State fan. He was sadly missed by family and friends.

Don was the dear husband and best friend of Carol (nee Tank), married 55 years. He was the loving father of Don Jr. (Bobbi), Dyan (Stu) Hannam, Sandy (Ken) Beckwith and Dan (Joan); the proud grandfather of Kristi (Romee) Johnson, Don III (Kelly), Jon (Allison) Hannam, Michelle (fiancŽ Nick) Hannam, Danielle, Kayla and Kyle Beckwith and Ryan and Brittany. He was a dear great-grandfather to Corey Johnson. Don was also survived by his brother Ray (Linda) Laine; his sister Viola (David) Halkold; and his brother-in-law Kenneth (Marcia) Tank. He was further survived by many nieces, nephews and friends. Don was preceded in death by his brother Arnold (Helen) Laine.

John Patrick Norgel

M, b. 17 September 1945, d. 20 June 2007
      John Patrick Norgel passed away at his residence in the loving care of his family after a courageous battle with cancer at the ageof 61 years on Wednesday, 20 June 2007. John was born in Milwaukee on 17 September 1945, son of John and Loretta (nee Flarity) Norgel . He was also raised in Milwaukee and after graduating from Custer High School, class of 1964, John honorably dedicated his time to serving his country in the United States Army from 1966-1969. Upon his return, he attended the University of Wisconsin-Stout, earning both his bachelor and master degrees in technical education. John fulfilled his career by landing a teaching position at Steffan Middle School, and later Lake Shore Middle School in the Mequon School District, Ozaukee County, Wisconsin, USA. He devoted 30 years to mentoring children through teaching. John loved hunting, fishing, woodworking and was a jack of all trades. He was past president of WAPVI, chairperson of the Comprehensive Community Ser-vice Agency, and was an active member of many other organizations.

John was missed and forever loved by his cherished wife of 29 years, Mary Jo (nee Pierick); his son, Christopher (fiancŽe Katrina Schersing) Norgel of Germantown; daughters, Nicole and Jessica Norgel of West Bend; his mother, Loretta Norgel of Waukesha; his sisters, Alice (Allen) Lemke of California and Cookie (Ken) Krause of German-town; and his brother, Ron (Donna) Norgel of West Bend. He wasl also be missed by sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews and many dear friends. John was preceded in death by his father, John C. Norgel; his son, Michael; and his brother, Douglas.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held in honor of John on Saturday, 23 June 23 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 521 Congress, Newburg, where Father Guy Gurath officiated. The family visited with family members and friends at the church on Saturday until the Mass. Cremation took place at Paradise Cremation Services of West Bend. A private burial took place at Holy Trinity Catholic Cemetery in Newburg.

Hazel S. Boesch

      Private services were held for Hazel S. Boesch, nee Wollner, who died at the age of 88 years at the Lasata Care Center in Cedarburg, Ozaukee County, Wisconsin, USA on 20 June 2007. Hazel was born in Grafton on 06 January 1919, daughter of Albert and Alma (nee Barrelmann) Wollner. She later married Lester Boesch on 06 November 1945. Hazel served her country in the United States Army.

Hazel was survived by her children, David (Linda) Boesch of Grafton and Thomas (Nancy) Boesch of West Bend; grandchildren, Traci (Joel) Multerer of Grafton, Timothy (Mary) Boesch of Fredonia, Kristin (Robert) Tanzi of Durham, North Carolina and Bryan Boesch of West Bend; great-grandchildren, Riley and Brycen Tanzi and Lilah Boesch; and a brother, Woodrow (Shirley) Wollner. She wasl also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Hazel was preceded by her parents and two brothers, Clarence and Allen Wollner.

James W. Grager

M, b. 29 July 1925, d. 22 June 2007
      James W. Grager, also known as Jim, of Slinger, Washington County, Wisconsin, USA, formerly of Hartford, passed away at the age of 81 years on Friday, 22 June 2007 at his residence, surrounded by his loving family. James was born in Hartford on 29 July 1925, son of Bernard and Josephine (nee Simon) Grager. He married Beatrice "Bea" Burke on 25 August 1947 at St. Kilian Catholic Church in Hartford. Jim served his country in the United States Navy during World War II. He was a member of the Hartford Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8834 and the Hartfford Courtney-Carr-Milner American Legion Post 19. Jim was the police chief of Hartford for many years, retiring in 1980. He was a life member of the Wisconsin Chiefs of Police Association and also a member of St. Peter Catholic Church. Jim enjoyed golfing, fishing up north at his cabin and traveling, especially to Jamaica every year.

James was survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Bea; his brother, Robert (Lavern) Grager of Marinette and his sisters-in-law, Verna Feutz of Jackson, Marjorie Wenzel of Hartford and Lucille Burke of Aurora, Illinois. Jim was further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Preceding him in death were his parents and two sisters, Helen (Tom) Surrell and Elaine (Joseph) Pryal.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Tuesday, 26 June at St. Peter Catholic Church, 202 East Washington Street in Slinger where Father Richard Stoffel officiated. Visitation was at the church on Tuesday. Interment was at St. Kilian Cemetery, Hartford, with graveside military rites conducted by the Hartford VFW and the Hartford American Legion.

Robert T. Kauth D.D.S.

M, b. 05 August 1919, d. 24 June 2007
      Robert T. Kauth, D.D.S., also known as Doc, of West Bend, Washington County, Wisconsin, USA died peacefully at the age of 87 years at Kathy’s Hospice surrounded by his family on Sunday, 24 June 2007. Bob was the sweetheart and loving husband to Elaine, his wife of 64 years. He will be deeply missed by his wife and five children, Mike (Ellen) of Menomonee Falls, Kathy (Bob) Dums of Denton North Carolina, Patti (Dave) Bavlnka of Sun Prairie, Jon (Kay) of West Bend and Arleen "Dolly" (Tom) Steepy of Colgate.

Robert was born in the family home in Slinger on 05 August 1919, son of Dr. Philip M. and Mabel (nee Roddy) Kauth. Bob lived in Slinger until 1929 when the family moved to West Bend. He attended Holy Angles School and later graduated from West Bend High School class of 1938. Bob earned a Bachelor of Science degree in biology from St. Norbert College in 1942. While in college, he was active in R.O.T.C. and entered the United States Army as a second lieutenant upon his graduation. He met his wife Elaine (nee Ewalt) of Green Bay while he was attending St. Norbert’s and they were married 23 January 1943 at Camp Maxey in Paris, Texas. During World War II, Bob served in the United States Army Company A, 9th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Infantry Division (Indian Head). He participated in the European Theater and landed on Omaha Beach in Normandy, France on 07 June 1944. He also fought in Northern France, the Rhineland, Battle of the Bulge in the Ardennes of Belgium and Germany. He was discharged with honors in 1946 as a first lieutenant with five battle stars, a Bronze Star, a Silver Star, the Purple Heart and Oak Leaf Cluster. Upon graduation from Marquette Dental School in 1950, Bob opened his practice in Kewaskum and six years later he moved to West Bend where he eventually built his dental office onto his home on South Sixth Avenue. In 1967 Bob was appointed to the position of postmaster of West Bend, which he held for 17 years until retiring in 1983. He continued to practice dentistry during his tenure as postmaster and retired from dentistry in the early 1990s. He was also active in many professional organizations up to his retirement, such as the Lions Club, Knights of Columbus, Toastmasters and the VFW. Bob and Elaine have been members of St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church since 1956.

Bob was preceded in death by his brothers, Tom (at age 9), Philip Kauth of West Bend, Attorney Luke Kauth of West Bend and Dr. Charles (Mildred) Kauth of Port Washington; sisters, Gertrude "Dolly" (Jack) Killeen of Big Cedar Lake, Mary Jayne (Louis) Ottmer of Tampa, Florida (formerly of Big Cedar Lake) and Helene (Bud) Pfeffer of Chilton; and cousins, Ardell (Rita) Kauth of Florida (formerly of Grafton), Vernon (Marion) Kauth of Germantown and Marilyn Bernhardt of West Bend. Bob was the proud grandfather of 10 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Mike’s children are Andy Kauth of Denver, and Amy (Tom) Brown Kauth of Chicago; Kathy’s children are Dr. Rob (Dawn) Dums of Virginia and their daughters Emma and Eden, Kim (Greg) Overbay of North Carolina and their children, Grayson, Garrett and Cami, and Mandie (Stuart) Condie of North Carolina, and children Bryndl, Megan and Noah; Patti’s children are Kevin, Tim and Marc of Sun Prairie; and Jon’s children are Katie and Emily of West Bend. Bob was further survived by a sister-in-law, Barbara Kauth of West Bend; cousins, Dellora (Irv) Blanchard of Slinger and Dorothy (Ralph) Kohl of Richfield; as well as many wonderful nieces, nephews, lifelong and new friends and neighbors.

Bob enjoyed life and his family. He will be remembered for his sense of humor, his interest in people and politics. He also was an avid Green Bay Packer fan and enjoyed watching Lawrence Welk on Saturday night. Many longtime residents of West Bend will recall Bob taking walks with "Schnapps," one of the three collie dogs he had over the years.
