John W. Kenworthy

John W. Kenworthy of Kewaskum, Washington County, Wisconsin, USA. formerly of Newton, Iowa, passed away at the age of 87 years on Wednesday, 05 December 2007, at the Samaritan Health Center in West Bend. John was born in Monroe County, Iowa on 21 March 1920, son of Mark and Mary Catherine (nee Curran) Kenworthy. On 25 November 1953, he was united in marriage to Wilma Haseltine and the couple made their home in Newton, Iowa. John proudly served his country in the United States Army 14th Armored Division during World War II. He was employed as an engineer for the Maytag Company, retiring after 35 years of service. John was a former member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Newton and the Elks Lodge 1270 of Newton. In 2005, John and Wilma moved to Kewaskum. Wilma preceded John in death on 30 January 2007.
John was survived by his three children, Linda (Leonard) Vitiritto of Arizona, Mary Kay (Brad) Speaks of Independence, Missouri and John D. (Denise) Kenworthy of Kewaskum; six grandchildren, Mark and Mike Mazzie, Ciera (Ben) Rhoades, Nathan Kenworthy (Jade Zadrazil), Dylan and Ian Kenworthy; a great-granddaughter, Victoria Kenworthy, who was John’s pride and joy; a brother, Chuck (Lavonne) Kenworthy of Loveland, Colo; other relatives and friends. In addition to his wife and parents, John was preceded in death by nine brothers and sisters.
A funeral service for John was celebrated on Friday, 07 December at the Miller Funeral Home in Kewaskum. Reverend David Schoob and Father Rick Wendell officiated. Military honor rites followed the service. Burial was on Saturday in Washington County Memorial Park in West Bend. Relatives and friends called on Friday at the funeral home.

William F. Haack

William F. Haack of the town of Scott, passed away at the age of 72 years on Saturday, 08 December 2007 at the Cedar Lake Health Care Center in the town of West Bend,Washington County, Wisconsin, USA. William was born in West Bend on 02 June 1935, son of Ervin and Helen (nee Ramel) Haack. On 11 November 1961, he was united in marriage to Jane Elliott in Sheboygan Falls. Jane preceded William in death on 15 December 2006. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was employed by the Oneida County Sheriff’s Department as a corrections officer for 15 years. William enjoyed working at the YMCA Kettle Moraine Camp Matawa, especially working with the horses. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in the town of Scott.

Arlie J. Dailey

Arlie J. Dailey of West Bend, Washington County, Wiscoinsin, USA was born into eternal life at his residence at the age of 76 years on Monday, 10 December 2007. Arline was born in Rhinelander on 23 January 1931, son of Arlie J. and Dora (nee Richardson) Dailey Sr. He left high school early to enlist as a Marine during Korea. After his discharge, he worked as a lineman for Wisconsin Electric in northern Wisconsin. He later worked as a lineman for other companies in Wisconsin and Michigan. Arlie was united in marriage to Shirley Ann Koszarek on 04 August 1952 in Rhinelander. Shirley preceded him in death in 1989. After moving to West Bend in 1997, he met Marge Salberg and they were united in marriage on 03 July 1998 at Fifth Avenue United Methodist Church, West Bend. Arlie embraced his Irish-Ojibwa heritage, and was a distinguished member of the Red Cliff Band of Lake Superior Chippewa Indians. He had a passionate love for nature, especially the lakes and forests of northern Wisconsin. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, who strongly believed in preserving our natural resources for future generations. Arline was a member of the Fifth Avenue United Methodist Church and the International Brother-hood of Electrical Workers. He and Marge greatly enjoyed activities at the West Bend Senior Center, where Marge is the director.
Aeline was survived by his wife, Marge; three children, Debra (George) Dailey-Eliszewski of Belgium, Michael (Robin) Dailey Sr. of Antigo and Kathleen (Christopher) Pownell of Eagle River; three stepchildren, Emory (Amy) Salberg Sr. of West Bend, LuAnn (Charles) Pallister of Red Granite and Cindy (Kenneth) Brown of Hollywood, Florida; 12 grandchildren, Alia Dailey-Willis, Nicole Dailey, Michael Dailey Jr., April Pownell, Michael (Karen) Eliszewski, Joe Eliszewski, Emory Salberg Jr., Alton Salberg, Amber Anderson, Jason Ander-son, Kenlyn Brown and Brandi (Luke) Brown; a great-granddaughter, Kylie Jade Powell; three sisters, Carol (Jack) Fischer, Ruth Dailey and Martha (Gary) Johnson; three brothers, Charles Dailey, Frank Kronzer and Pat Kronzer; two sisters-in-law, Delores (Larry) Schiebe and Rachel (Bill) Schlutz; three brothers-in-law, Harold (DeLoras) Greer, Howard (Jane) Gree, and Ralph (Rita) Greer. He will be greatly missed by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Arlen was preceded in death by his son, Arlie John III; and two brothers, Duane and Tom.
A memorial service to remember Arlie was held on Saturday, 15 December at the Myrhum- Patten Funeral Home, West Bend, where Reverend Janis Best officiated. Visitation was on Saturday at the funeral home. Burial of his cremated remains was in Holy Family Cemetery in Elcho.

John William Gaynor

John William Gaynor, also know as Jack, of Slinger, Washington County, Wisconsin, USA passed away peacefully at the age of 83 years on 28 July 2013 surrounded by his family. John was born in Evanston, Illinois on 18 June 1930, son of William and Dorothy Gaynor. The family moved to Green Bay in 1940. John graduated from the University of Wisconsin– Madison in 1956. On 29 June 1957, he married Ilamae Stephani in Black Creek. John was employed by the Pitney Bowes Corporation for 36 years. He belonged to the Slinger-Allenton Rotary Club. He was the Rotary Youth Exchange chairman for Rotary District 627 from 1985-2000. John enjoyed working with the high school exchange students from all over the world. He also enjoyed traveling with the grandchildren during Easter vacations, showing them many parts of the United States. John also enjoyed boating activities with family and friends on Big Cedar Lake. He served in the United States Navy during the Korean War.
John was survived by his wife of 56 years, Ilamae; six children, Michael (Stephanie), Sue (Tom Kapke), Scott (Josie), Linda (Brian Krause), Elizabeth (Scott Sterman) and Bill (Becky); 16 grandchildren, Joshua, Dana, Jonathan (Theresa), Jennifer, Jessica, Alicia, John Ace, Justin, Bradley, Nick, Aaron, Jaimee, Nathan, Abby, John and Emily. He was preceded in death by his father William, his mother Dorothy, sisters Pat DePrey and Kathleen Ferris, and infant granddaughter Nicole.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Peter Catholic Church, 200 East Washington Street in Slinger on Sunday, 04 August where Reverend Richard Stoffel presided. The visitation was at the church followed by Mass and a meal. A private burial was held at St. Peter Cemetery.

Jack D. Miller

Jack D. Miller of West Bend, Washington County, Wisconsin, USA passed away at the age of 82 years on Sunday, 28 July 2013 at The Lighthouse of West Bend. Jack was born in Unity, Wisconsin on 13 July 1931, son of Herbert and Margaret (nee Jahn) Miller. He was raised in Random Lake, Sheboygan County. Jack was a graduate of Random Lake High School and the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a degree in engineering. He served in the United States Army in the Korean Conflict where he received two bronze stars. Jack retired from the Walbro Corporation in 1996. He had a deep appreciation for the beauty of nature and loved his yard and flowers. He was on the Board of Trustees for Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Cass City, Michigan.
Jack was survived by his children Susan (Craig) Thomas, David (Mary), Marc (Patty), and Michele. He was further survived by his grandchildren Tim (Lauren), Daniel and Joseph Burke, great-grandchildren Regan and Dylan, nieces Cathy Timm and Cindy Hartley, and other relatives and friends. A memorial service will be held for James M. McEneany, also known as Jim, of Thiensville, Ozaukee County, Wisconsin, USA at 14 December 2007 at the Mequon United Methodist Church, 11011 North Oriole Lane, in Mequon. Jim passed away from complications following a stroke, at the age of 84 years on Saturday, 08 December 2007 surrounded by his family. Visitation was held on Friday at the church, prior to the memorial service.
Jim was born in Pittsford, New York on 13 January 1923, son of John and Elizabeth McEneany. Pittsford is where he grew up. Following graduation from Pittsford High School, Jim attended Carleton College in Northfield, Minnesota. He then enlisted in the United States Army and was enrolled in the ASTP officer training program. Following his training, Jim shipped out to the European front with the 156th Field Artillery of the 44th Division. After completing his service in World War II, Jim enrolled at Carleton College, Northfield, Minnesota, where he met and married Dolores Lancaster, his wife of nearly 60 years. He graduated from North Dakota State School of Engineering in 1950, earning membership in the Pi Tau Sigma, an honorary engineering fraternity. Jim worked at Stanley Engineering in Muscatine, Iowa. He later was employed by Commonwealth Associates in Jackson, Michigan, where he was selected to work on the Enrico Fermi atomic power project. He then moved to Milwaukee and was in the peacetime nuclear program at A.O. Smith. He subsequently worked for Krause Milling Company until his retirement.
Jim enjoyed many activities, including camping trips to the Northwest, hunting and sailing and gardening. His interest in his retirement years included service to the village of Thiensville Board, active membership in the Mequon United Methodist Church and more recently service to the Mequon Howard J. Schroeder American Legion Post 457. Ever helpful, Jim was generous, selfless and anchored in his family. His love of the outdoors, fixing whatever was needed, animals and family provided his focus. Selfless and loyal in his service, especially toward his wife, he strove to improve and support those most dear to him.
Jim was survived by his wife Dolores; his daughters Linda Colvin (Steve) of Oroville, Wash. and Sarah Smith (Robert) of Shorewood; his sons Douglas McEneany of Duluth, Minnesota. and Sean McEneany (Jan) of Federal Way, Washington; and his grandchildren Nathan, Jenny and Derek Garnett, Kyle McEneany, Sam and Ian McEneany, and Mimi and Liam Smith.

A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated for Emmons E. Schmit on Thursday, 20 December at the Holy Cross Catholic Church in Holy Cross. Emmons passed away at the Belgium Gardens at the age of 86 years on Saturday, 15 December 2007. Father Richard Fleischman and Father James Ernster co-celebrated the funeral Mass. Visitation was at the church prior to the Mass. Interment took place at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Grafton, Ozaukee County, Wisconsin, USA.
Emmons was born in Port Washington on 02 September 1921, son of Nic and Cecelia (nee Schinker) Schmit. Twenty-one years later, in Grafton, he married Florence Schwenner on 06 March 1943. Their marriage was blessed with eight children. Emmons was a United States Navy Veteran who served his country during World War II. He was also a member of the Grafton Rose-Harms American Legion Post 355.
Emmons owned and operated Custom Cabinets in Grafton and retired from A.O. Smith after working there for 12 years. He was an avid fisherman but his true love was his family.

Bob passed away at the age of 85 years on Sunday, 16 December 2007 at Columbia St. Mary Hospital. Visitation was at the church on Friday. Interment took place in the church cemetery.
Robert was born in Thiensville on 21 August 1922, son of Alois and Emily (nee Boesch) Hoffmann. He married Kathryne "Katie" Glamm on 29 November 1952 at St. Sabastian Catholic Church in Milwaukee. Bob was a 50-year member of the Grafton Rose-Harms American Legion Post 355 and a member of the IRA Rodeo Assocation.
Bob was survived by his wife Katie of Grafton; son Dan (Susie) of Grafton; grandchildren Katie, Casey, Chris, Bobby and Tom; daughter-in-law Terry Hoffman of Loveland, Colorado; sister Ruth (Orville) Schiller of West Bend; and brother Ray (Marilyn) Hoffmann of Colgate. He was further survived by other relatives and friends. Bob was preceded in death by his sons Bob and Tim; his sisters Mary Chapman and Elsie Guttmann; and his brother Leroy Hoffmann.

Oliver H. Locklair

Oliver H. Locklair, also known as Ollie, went home to be with the Lord at the age of 87 years on Monday, 17 December 2007. Ollie was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Frances. He was the devoted father of Gary and his wife Karen; grandfather "Pop" to Joshua, his wife Joya, Sabrina, her husband Geoff, David, his wife Kallie, Daniel and Valerie; and proud great-grandfather to Josh and Joya’s Tessa Michelle. Survivors also included a sister, Daisy Cotton, and many nieces, nephews and special friends.
Ollie was born on 29 March 1920 in St. Stephen, South Carolina. He enlisted in the United States Navy in 1942 and served as an aircraft machinist mate aboard the aircraft carriers Bunker Hill and Wasp, earning special service citations while his units earned Presidential citations. Ollie saw service from the South Pacific to Africa during World War II. Following six years of service in the Navy, he worked at McClellan Air Force Base in Sacramento, California for over 25 years, maintaining and supervising aircraft which saw service in Korea and Vietnam. Ollie was active in churches he was a member of, serving on numerous boards and leadership positions. He helped in the building of three mission churches, Zion Lutheran in Sacramento, Beautiful Savior Lutheran in Boise, Idaho, and St. Andrew Lutheran in West Bend.
A memorial service confirming the assurance of eternal life was held at St. Andrew Lutheran Church, 7750 North Highway 144 in West Bend on Friday, 21 December where Pastor Robert Korytkowski officiated. A private entombment with military honors was held at Wisconsin Memorial Park.

Peter A. Werni Sr. entered eternal peace at the age of 78 years on Monday, 24 December 2007 at SynergyHealth St. Joseph Hospital in West Bend, Washington County, Wisconsin, USA. Peter was born in Zemlin, Yugoslavia on 16 July 1929, son of Anton and Margareta (nee Frederich) Werni. During the war, he immigrated to Austria, where he worked on the Kaprun Dam and also worked on tunnels through mountains in Ternberg. He then moved to Beatrice, Nebraska and finally settled in Milwaukee. He married Dolores Brandes on March 6, 1953 at St. Boniface Church in Milwau-kee. Peter served in the United States Army and was stationed in Kitzigen, Germany with his wife until his discharge. He worked at Globe Van Doorn and The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel for 30 years. Pete loved hunting, fishing, working outdoors, gardening and carpentry. He looked forward to his purple Martins every April. He also loved animals and nature and was devoted to his family; they were most important in his life. He was a devoted husband and father. Peter enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Dr. Robert Joseph Gardner

Dr. Robert Joseph Gardner, a retired thoracic surgeon, died at the age of 83 years on Monday, 24 December 2007 at Grand Oaks Assisted Living in Washington, D.C. Dr. Gardner was born in Barrington, Illinois, son of Anthony J. Gardner and Elizabeth J. Gardner. He served in the United States Navy during World War II. Dr. Gardner graduated from Washington State University with a bachelor’s degree in 1947 and received his medical degree from Northwestern University in 1951. After his internship at Cook County Hospital in Chicago, he went into private general practice in Menomonie, Wisconsin for six years. In 1958, he returned to Northwestern University for his residency, specializing in thoracic surgery. Dr. Gardner had a 10-year career with the West Virginia Medical Center in Morgantown, West Virginia., beginning as a fellow in thoracic surgery and serving as professor of surgery from 1975-78. He then went into private practice in surgery in West Bend until his retirement in 1995.
Dr. Gardner was a fellow of the American College of Surgeons, a member of the Central Surgical Association, the Society of Thoracic Surgeons, the American Association of Thoracic Surgeons and the American Medical Association. He was a noted expert on abdominal aortic aneurysms.

He was the loving dad of Tina (Janoah) Murphy, Sam, Bryan (Suzanne) and Michael (LaShawn). Daneil was the proud grandpa of Kyle, Noah, Sophia, Daniel, Monica, Rebecca, Patrick, Noah, Morgan and Josie. Dear son of Joan and the late Eugene and son-in-law of Michael and Jan Bongiorno. He was further survived by his brother, sisters, other relatives and friends.

Gerald H. Herbst, also known as Jerry, of Grafton, Ozaukee County, Wisconsin, USA was born into Eternal Life at the age of 88 years on Friday, 26 July 2013. He was born on 06 January 1925. Jerry was the beloved husband of Lois Birdsong for 65 years. He and Lois took literally the words from the Bible, “increase and multiply.” He was the loving dad of Mike (Martie), Kathy, Denis, Jerry Jr. (Patrice), Theresa (Todd) St. Louis and Patsy (Mike) Wilhelme, special friend to Joe Miller Sr. and Donn Hoffmann. Proud grandpa of Joey (Andi) Miller, Bobbie Jo Perez, Sara (Winston) Ryan, Brian (Mary), Laura (Sloan) Allen, Adam Miller, Amy (Sam) Cox, Mike Jr. (Jen), John (Amy), Craig (Becky) St. Louis, David (April), Caydee (Eric) Depies, Brandon (Alyssa), Caree (Scott) Krenzke, Jacob (Jamie) Wilhelme, Andrew Wilhelme, Mike/Alex Wilhelme (Tricia Jackson) and Thomas Wilhelme. Jerry was proud to have been blessed with 34 great-grandchildren. His face never lit up more than when a new baby was placed in his arms. Further survived by his brother Kenneth, sisters-in-law, Mary Cosgrove and Phyllis (John) Blahna and many relatives and friends.

Jerry loved music and was proud to sing in the mens choir at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Milwaukee. He spread that love of music by singing to his family right up to the end of his earthly life. Jerry grew up working on the farm, where he found his love for gardening. Jerry so enjoyed rummaging with his best friend, Mike Terwelp, fishing with his sons, sons-in-law and grandsons and camping with the CFM (Catholic Family Movement) group. He had a heart and passion for the poor and homeless. Along with lifelong friends he made through the CFM group at St. Joseph Parish, he was instrumental in starting the St. Vincent De Paul Society at St. Joe in Grafton and feeding the homeless at St. Ben in Milwaukee. Jerry loved volunteering at the Family Tree Residential Facilities, where he met so many wonderful people. Jerry will be greatly missed. His word will never be forgotten which he so often told us, “I love YOU and God loves YOU!”
Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, 07 August 2013 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 1619 Washington Street in Grafton. The family received relatives and friends at church on Wednesday until the time of Mass. Inurnment was at at St. Joseph Cemetery.

L. James Reinke, also known as Jim, was called to his heavenly home at the age of 83 years on Thursday, 01 August 2013 surrounded by his loving family. James was born in West Bend on 30 August 1929, son of Lloyd and Viola (nee Kocher) Reinke. Following high school, Jim served in the United States Army. On Jan. 19, 1952, while on leave, Jim was united in marriage to Mildred “Millie” Ewert at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church in West Bend. Upon his return from the service, he worked for his father at their family auto repair business. He later worked for Tom Landvatter at Landvatter Radio and TV and eventually worked for the Wisconsin Gas Company retiring in 1993 as a senior instrument technician. Jim’s faith was a very important part of his life and he was an active, lifetime member of St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church in West Bend. He was also a 50-year member of his card club, and in his free time he enjoyed fishing, golfing, traveling and spending time up north.
James was survived by his wife, Millie; two children, Steve (Pam) Reinke of West Bend and Christine Reinke of West Bend; three grandchildren, Jim (Stephanie) Reinke, Scott Reinke, and Jeff Reinke, all of West Bend; two great-granddaughters, Hana and Grace Reinke; an aunt, Naomi Bowman; nephew, John (Sonja) Lawrence; niece, Jill (David) Lake; other relatives and many friends. John R. Held

John R. Heid of West Bend, Washington County, Wisconsin, USA passed away at Cedar Bay East at the age of 87 years on Tuesday, 01 January 2008. John was born in Galena,Illinois on 30 May 1920, son of Frank and Edna (nee Chase) Heid. At a very young age, John’s family moved to West Bend where he attended grade school and graduated from West Bend High School class of in 1938. John served his country during World War II as a master sergeant in the United States Army. He was stationed in the Aleutian Islands in Alaska. Upon his return home from the war, John began working as a mechanic for the local Ford dealership. He was united in marriage to Leilah Feiten in West Bend on 29 May 1946. Together they were charter members of St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church. Leliah preceded John in death in September of 1996. During the late 1950s, John became the owner and operator of the DX Gas Station in West Bend. He made many good friends while there, but he soon sold the business to pursue a career as a maintenance mechanic for the Washington County Highway Department, where he worked for over 25 years. Following his retirement in the early 1980s, John served as an alderman for the city of West Bend. John enjoyed challenging himself to a good crossword puzzle. He loved sports, especially baseball, and never missed the sports page in the paper. John was one of the first residents of Cedar Bay East and in recent years he enjoyed spending time with old friends from high school who were also residents there.
John was survived by his three children, Carol (Jack) Hebert of New Berlin, Michael (Diane) Heid of Urbandale, Iowa and Thomas Heid of Port St. Lucie, Florida; five grandchildren, Laura and Katie Hebert, and Allison, Matthew and Jason Heid. He was further survived by a brother, Roger Heid of Minneapolis, Minnesota; and many other dear relatives and close friends. Raymond F. Vensel, also known as Ray, of Hartford, Washington County,Wisconsin, USA passed away at the age of 84 years on Saturday, 05 January 2008. Raymond was born in Athens, Wisconsin on 28 August 1923, son of Frank and Gertrude (nee Millaski) Teresinski. He married Viola Seidel in Marshfield at St. John Catholic Church on 20 February 1952. Ray served his country in the United States Navy during World War II. He worked at West Bend Aluminum for many years and at Chrysler Outboard Marine in Hartford for 28 years. Ray was a 50-year member of the Disabled American Veterans in West Bend. He loved to garden and enjoyed being surrounded by the beauty of nature very much.
Raymond was survived by his loving wife, Viola, of 55 years; and a sister in Florida. Ray was also survived by a special and good family friend, Mark J. Koehler of Milwaukee. He was survived by other relatives and many friends.

He attended Holy Angels Grade School in West Bend and was graduated from West Bend High School, where he won the Pick Football Trophy in 1937. He set a school record for the Badgers, which was never topped, scoring five touchdowns in a game against Columbus. He later helped coach the Holy Angels Grade School football team to several area championships. Lloyd attended Marquette University after graduation, but then enlisted in the United States Marine Corps after the outbreak of World War II and served in the South Pacific as a lieutenant. While stationed in North Carolina, he married Virginia (Vic) Blank of West Bend and they were happily married for 35 years until her death in 1979. Following his discharge, Lloyd returned to West Bend and worked as a salesman for J.C. Penny and then with New York Life for 10 years. In 1981, he retired as a vice-president from B.C. Ziegler Company after 23 years there. Lloyd was involved in many charitable and civic organizations in West Bend over the years. He served as parish secretary for St Frances Cabrini Church for 17 years and was instrumental in various cancer drives, Jaycees, Knights of Columbus and the Veteran of Foreign Wars. He was a member of "The Gusts" and excelled over the years with his old-time West Bend cronies in smart talk and laughter. Lloyd spent his last years happily residing on the Cedar Community campus and was very pleased with the excellent quality of care he received there.

Gerald A. Krueger of Mayville, Dodge County died at the age of 72 years on Friday, 04 January 2008 at St. Agnes Hospital in Fond du Lac. Gerald was born in Theresa on 28 March 1935, son of Edgar and Loretta (nee Ustruck) Krueger. He married Elaine C. Muraski on 18 October 1958 in Fond du Lac. Elaine passed away on 07 November 2007. Gerald was employed at the former Crescent Trucking of Mayville, and retired from Kreilkamp Trucking of Allenton, Washington County, Wisconsin, USA. He also drove cars for Ernie Von Schledorn of Mayville. Gerald attended St. Mary Catholic Church, Mayville, and served his country andis a veteran of the United States Army.

Richard M. Gerfin was born in Milwaukee on 11 June 1926, son of Harry and Jeanette (nee Komassa) Gerfin. Dick served overseas as a sergeant in the United States Army from 1944-46. In 1948, he married Sabina "Sally" Moroder. Dick became a machinist and also worked in the tool and die industry. He retired from Allen-Bradley in Cedarburg after 17 years. After retirement, Dick loved working part time at Ace Hardware in Cedarburg and Mequon. He always enjoyed working with his hands, listening to music and watching the Packers and Brewers.
Richard was survived by his wife of 59 years, Sabina "Sally"; his children Tom (Candi) Gerfin of Grayslake, Illinois, Susan (Dan) Gleason of Brookfield, Barbara (Wayne) Novotny of Wind Lake, Joanne (Peter) Leiby of Delafield and Jenny (Charlie) Karpelenia of Portage; his grandchildren Christopher, Katie and Stefanie Gerfin, John, Nick, David and Sarah Gleason, Jason (Angela) and Laura Novotny, Jake, Josh and Tori Leiby, and Alex, Jack and Ian Karpelenia; his great-grandchild Eleanor Novotny; and his in-laws Dorothy Gerfin of Milwaukee, Barbara Moroder of Milwaukee, Jerrie Moroder of Fox Point and Rudy (Barbara) Moroder of Shorewood. David M. Kurtz

David M. Kurtz, 80, of Hubertus, Washington County, Wisconsin, USA passed away at the age of 80 years on Tuesday, 08 January 2008 at Community Memorial Hospital in Menomonee Falls. David was born on 22 July 1927, son of Carl and Eleanor (nee Heirlinger) Kurtz. He was raised in Hubertus on the family farm. David marrried Annabelle C. Guetzke on 29 July 1950 at St. Jacobi Congregational Church in Richfield. After marriage, the couple lived in Cedarburg, later moving to Hubertus in 1967. David served in the United States Army during World War II in the South Pacific. He later worked for Marquardt Bus Service as a mechanic for 27 years and then Konrath Bus for more than seven years, retiring in 2001. David was a member of the Germantown Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9202 and the Daniel Boone Conservation Club and Richfield Historical Society.
David was survived by a brother, William (Leona) Kurtz of Watertown; nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Annabelle was born on 26 August 1925, daughter of Edwin and Hildegard (nee Schwamb) Guetzke in the town of Richfield. She passed away on Thursday, 03 January 2008 at the Samaritan Health Center in West Bend. Annabelle was employed as a factory worker for Doerr Electric of Cedarburg for over 10 years. She was a lifelong member of St. Jacobi Congregational Church from baptism until her death and was a member of the Brookfield Legion Band.

Combined funeral services for David and Annabelle was held on Friday, 11 January at the Phillip Funeral Home Chapel in West Bend where Reverend Hillary Bowser officiated. Interment for both took place on Saturday in Washington County Memorial Park in West Bend, with military honors for David. Combined visitation was at the funeral home on Friday.

Robert C. Giddings

Robert C. Giddings, also known as Bob, of Jackson, Washington County, Wisconsin, USA died at the age of 75 years on Thursday, 10 January 2008 at The Kathy Hospice in the town of Polk. Robert was born in the town of Maretto in Crawford County on 18 December, 1932, son of Otto and Caroline (nee Hudson) Giddings. He married Marion Hawkins (nee Pemble) on 08 October 1977 at St. Johns Interdenominational Church in Milwaukee. Bob served in the United States Marine Corps in Korea where he was a prisoner of war for 22 months. Following his discharge, he settled in Milwaukee where he worked for his brother Bill. He later became a part owner of All State Maintenance before selling his stake in the business to go into business with his stepson Edward. They formed Giddings and Hawkins Maintenance Inc. He later went into semi-retirement and sold his portion of the business but stayed on as the vice-president of sales remaining in that position until the time of his death. While living in Milwaukee, he and his wife were members of St. Johns Interdenominational Church. He was an active volunteer in their church singing in the choir, ushering and reading Bible scriptures during services. Bob was a member of the Jackson SSgt. Henry F. Gumm American Legion Post 486.
Robert was survived by his wife of 30 years, Marion, a stepson Edward (Corrine) Hawkins of Loana, Wisconsin., a granddaughter and three great-grandchildren. He was further survived by three brothers, Kenneth (Joyce), Richard and Melvin, all of Wisconsin; two sisters, Kathy Parr and Phyliss Cocoa, both of California; two brothers-in-law, James (Ruthie) Pemble of Franklin and Jack (Kathy) Pemble of Tipler; a sister-in-law, Betty Wren of Jackson, nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends. He also leaft behind his special four-legged friend, Prince William Superstar. He was greatly missed by all. Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Otto and Caroline, his son Johnny Giddings, a stepbrother Bill Giddings and a nephew Clay Giddings.
Funeral services were held on Monday, 14 January at the Schmidt Funeral Home in Jackson where Reverend Paul Mittermaier officiated. Jackson SSgt. Henry F. Gumm American Legion Post 486 honored Robert with a walk through.

Lucille C. Oakes (nee Tenant) passed away peacefully at the age of 88 years on Thursday, 10 January, 2008. Funeral services were held on 02 February at the Wisconsin Memorial Park Family Center - West North Chapel, 12875 West Capitol Drive in Brookfield. Visitation took place at the chapel on 02 February.

John J. Hames of West Bend, Washingron County, Wisconsin, USA died at his residence at the age of 87 years on Monday, 14 January 2008. John was born in Waubeka on 16 October 1920, son of Joseph and Irene (nee Kramer) Hames. On 14 March 1942, he married Alice Monday in Milwaukee. Alice preceded John in death in 2007. He proudly served his country, with distinction, in the United States Army in the South Pacific during World War II. John lived in Waubeka for 60 years where he and Alice operated Hames Nursery Landscape Contractors Inc. before moving to Green Lake, town of Farmington. He earned many state and federal landscape contracts on the interstate highway system. His many achievements in the community included founding the National Flag Day Foundation of which he held the office of president for 48 years., chief of the Waubeka Fire Department for 20 years, president of the former Grandview School Board, president of the Badger Firemen’s Association for two years, past commander and life member of Waubeka Flag Day Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7037 and chairmen of the State of Wisconsin Veterans of Foreign Wars Flag Day Committee from 1946-1972.
John was survived by two sons, Dennis of Waubeka and Steven of Monona; his daughter, Sara (Ronald) Nagy of Pewaukee; six grandchildren, Christine (David) Vogt, Andrea (Bruce) Gierach, Michael (Becky) Hames, T.J. Gaylord Keith Christenson, also known as Chris, of West Bend, Washington County, Wisconsin, USA passed away at the age of 74 years on Wednesday, 16 January 2008 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Gaylord was born in Iowa on 30 March 1933, son of Howard and Vera (nee Drum) Christenson. After serving proudly in the United States Navy, Gaylord moved to Milwaukee. There he met his soul mate Joann Freier and they were married on 11 October 1958. Together they started their family with four lovely children. Gaylord retired from the Falk Company after more than 20 years of dedicated service. He loved hunting and fishing with his boys and spending quality time with his friends and family. Gaylord was very proud of his beautiful home and yard. He was also an active member of St. John United Church of Christ in Slinger.
Gaylord was survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Joann; four adoring children, Debbie (Pete) DesRoches of Hartford, Mary (Keith) Risse of Sheboygan, Gary (Wendy) Christenson of Hartford and Brian Christenson of West Bend; and five grandchildren, Megan, Charlie, Becca, Jake and Nate.
