On Saturday, 31 October 1914, Mathias, age 25, married Emeily Neuman, age 18, in Milwaukee, Milwaukee County, Wisconsin, USA.² Mathias died, at the age of 47 years, on Thursday, 28 May 1936 at St. Joseph Hospital.¹ He is buried in Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery, Milwaukee.^1,3 The burial location is Block 18, Section C, Lot 640, Grave 1, Level 1; IN 28690.

In May 1887, Theresa, age 19, married Anton Henseler, age 23. Theresa died, at the age of 80 years, on Friday, 10 October 1947 in Town of Lincoln, Wood County, Wisconsin, USA.² She is buried in an unlisted location.³

     Theresa Anna Ott, daughter of Vincent John Ott and Theresa Bertha Philipp, was born on Monday, 23 July 1894 at 880 Bartlett Street, Milwaukee, Milwaukee County, Wisconsin, USA.^1,2 On Thursday, 11 July 1918 Theresa Anna, age 23, married John J. Kinlein, age 27.³ Theresa died, at the age of 65 years, on Sunday, 14 February 1960.^3,4 She is buried in Holy Cross Cemetery, Milwaukee.⁴ The burial location is Block 50, Lot 92, Grave 1.

     Therese Ott, daughter of George Ott and Agnes Clara Stuesse, was born on Saturday, 09 July 1938 at 11:15 in the morning at 5627 West Center Street, Milwaukee, Milwaukee County, Wisconsin, USA.^1,2 Therese died, at the age of 33 years, on Friday, 09 July 1971.^3,2 She is buried in Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery, Milwaukee, Milwaukee County, Wisconsin, USA.⁴ The burial location is Block 4, Section B, Lot 154, Grave 10.

     Ulrich Ott, son of George Ott and Margaret Hutzler, was born in 1812 in Burch-Grub bie Pressath, Oberfranken, Bavaria, Germanic Lands.¹ On Monday, 12 June 1848, Ulrich married Amalia Elisabeth Hacker, age 16, in Kemnath, Bavaria.² Ulrich died on Wednesday, 11 October 1893 in Godas bie Kemnath.¹

     Vincent Ott, son of Georg Michael Ott and Maria Philipp, was born on Monday, 09 November 1903 in Milwaukee, Milwaukee County, Wisconsin, USA.^1,2,3,4 On Thursday, 30 November 1944, Vincent, age 41, married Madelyn Anderson-Osborne, age 41, in their residence, Milwaukee, Milwaukee County.³ Vincent died, at the age of 81 years, in April 1985.¹

     Vincent John Ott, son of Ulrich Ott and Amalia Elisabeth Hacker, was born on Saturday, 21 January 1860 in Godas bie Stadt Kemnath, Oberfranklen, Bavaria, Germanic Lands.² Vincent emigrated from Godas, Bavaria to the Port of New York, New York City, New York, departing in May 1883. The Ott and Philipp families grew up together, one in Godas, the other a few miles away in Kemnath. Vincent's brother George, the older of the two, married first to the daughter of the Burgermeister (mayor) of Kemnath. If these families socially interacted before this is unknown, but one would certainly assume so. We know for sure that Vincent and Theresa Philipp became aware of one another at George's wedding to Theresa's sister Mary where quite possibly they may have been witnesses. Vincent had mentioned to Theresa that he would be going to Milwaukee and this cause Theresa to raise up her eyes and to begin thinking of Vincent as an adventurer. Theresa had independently made up her mind that she too wanted to see the world. Vincent agreed to send Theresa letters telling her what it was like outside Kemnath.

A man of his word, Vincent went off to see the world specifically, Milwaukee a city in the state of Wisconsin in the United States of America. He went initially to live with his sister Mrs. Barbara (Ott) Nuber in Marshfield, Wisconsin one of two sister living in the area. The other being Theresa Henseler living in Bakerville. Later he moved to Milwaukee where he obtained a good job and was able to save some money. (He may have stayed with one of his three sisters, Anna, Elizabeth, or Mary who were living in Milwaukee at the time). Milwaukee pleased Vincent very much. Vincent having many things on his mind, the promised letters were very infrequent.

Two of Vincent's companions in Milwaukee, who had been residents of Barvaria, came back to bring Herr Ott word of his son. The Ott and Philipp families gathered and the travelers told of Vincent's good job. As these gentlemen continued to expound upon the "German" Milwaukee, Theresa could not hold back her enthusiasm and blurted out, "I want to go to Milwaukee too". Herr Ott was worried about his adventurous son in Milwaukee. While he was a good son, he wasn't to certain about American girls. He took pen in hand and sent a letter to his son. In it he mentioned that Theresa Plilipp was of mind to see Milwaukee and it would please him greatly if he would take advantage of this and ask her to be his wife.

Vincent began to write Theresa more often describing Milwaukee in glowing terms. This went on for some time when Vincent finally sent a letter asking Theresa to marry him. Theresa somewhat thinking the letter to be a joke wrote back, "if you come and get me, I will do it". She liked Vincent and most dearly wish to see the city of Milwaukee. Some time later, Vincent purchased a ticket for a trip to Kemnath and tickets for two people to return to Milwaukee. On 26 November 1886, Vincent was walking on the streets of Kemnath. He was not really sure Theresa meant what she said in her letter but he certainly did not come all the way back to Kemnath just to say hello. He and Theresa saw each other many times with Vincent answering Theresa's many, many questions. Two months later he proposed and Theresa accepted.

The basis of this story came from Theresa herself in an article published in the Milwaukee Journal Newspaper dated 16 February 1937. On Monday, 31 January 1887, Vincent John, age 27, married Theresa Bertha Philipp, age 21, at Stadt Kirche, Kemnath, Bavaria, Germany.³ Vincent and Theresa left Bavaria arriving at the Port of New York, New York City, on Thursday, 19 May 1887. They left from Antwerp and were 11 days on board the ship SS Noordland as steerage passengers. When Vincent purchased tickets for himself and his future wife before leaving for Bavaria, the ticketing agent placed the return tickets in a sealed envelope and told Vincent not to open the envelope until he was ready to board the ship.

In Antwerp, when the ticketing agent opened the envelope, the envelope contained two tickets one for Theresa and the other for Mathias Schmidt. This cause a lot of confusion for the young married couple; Theresa cried. The matter was straightened out only because one of their friends could vouch for them. Theresa said that if her father, the burgermeister, knew this would happen, he would not have let her leave Germany. The ship's manifest did not list Mathias or Vincent. Although several males of age 27 were listed, all seem legitimate. There were three passengers listed under the name unknown but none 27 years of age.
Vincent died, at the age of 79 years, on Tuesday, 28 March 1939 at St. Mary Hospital, Milwaukee.² He is buried in Holy Cross Cemetery, Milwaukee.^2,4 The burial location is Block 20, Lot 759, Grave 1, Level 1; IN 31930.

     Vincent Ott Jr., son of Vincent John Ott and Theresa Bertha Philipp, was born on Tuesday, 21 August 1906 at 880 Bartlett, Milwaukee, Milwaukee County, Wisconsin, USA.^1,2,3,4 Vincent died, at the age of 63 years, on Tuesday, 21 July 1970 at St. Anne Nursing Home.^2,3 He is buried in Holy Cross Cemetery, Milwaukee.² The burial location is Block 20, Lot 759, Grave 3, Level 1; IN 83505.

     Viola Margaret Ott, daughter of Mathias Ott and Emeily Neuman, was born on Sunday, 02 March 1919 at 535 14th Street, Milwaukee, Milwaukee County, Wisconsin, USA.^1,2 Viola died on Friday, 11 April 1919 at home at 535 14th Street.³ The location is Block 5, Section C, Lot 2, Grave 10, Level 1; IN 9617. Baptist died, at the age of 69 years, on Sunday, 01 December 1968 at Milwaukee County General Hospital, Milwaukee.^4,1 He is buried in Spaulding Cemetery, Spaulding, Michigan.⁴

     Konrad Johann Philipp, son of B. Philipp and Eva Hiltner, was born on Sunday, 18 November 1832 in Holl, Bavaria.¹ Say 1861, Konrad Johann married Margaret Heindel.

     Maria Philipp, daughter of Konrad Johann Philipp and Margaret Heindel, was born on Wednesday, 26 November 1862 in Kemnath, Oberfranken, Bavaria, Germanic Lands.^1,2 Say 1881, Maria married Georg Michael Ott at City Church, Kemnath.³ Maria emigrated at the age of 40 from Abensberg, Bavaria, Germany, departing on Saturday, 29 August 1903 through Rotterdam, Holland, on vessel Statendam of the Holland-American Line as steerage passengers arriving New York City, New York ten days later on 7 September. Maria died, at the age of 80 years, on Wednesday, 09 December 1942 at 12:35 in the morning at home in Milwaukee.² She was buried in Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery, Milwaukee, Milwaukee County, Wisconsin, USA.¹ The burial location is Block 18, Section C, Lot 444, Grave 2, Level 1, IN 36083.

     Theresa Bertha Philipp, daughter of Konrad Johann Philipp and Margaret Heindel, was born on Friday, 17 February 1865 in Holl und Haid Post Neusorg, Oberfalz, Bavaria, Germany.^1,2 On Monday, 31 January 1887, Theresa Bertha, age 21, married Vincent John Ott, age 27, at Stadt Kirche, Kemnath, Bavaria, Germany.³ Theresa emigrated at age 22 to Port of New York, New York City, New York, departing on Thursday, 19 May 1887 She left with her husband from Antwerp and was 11 days on board the ship SS Noordland as steerage passengers. Theresa's occupation was listed as seamstress. On the voyage Theresa knitted twelve pair of stockings in two colors, wine and white, of very fine yarn. Theresa died, at the age of 80 years, on Sunday, 29 July 1945 at home in Milwaukee.¹ Theresa is buried in Holly Cross Cemetery, Milwaukee.^1,4 The burial location is Block 20, Lot 759, Grave 2, level 1; IN 39596.

     Verona Marie Popp, daughter of John Popp and Theresa Nadler, was born on Saturday, 21 June 1913 in St. John, Calumet County, Wisconsin, USA.^1,2,3 On Tuesday, 18 August 1936, Verona Marie, age 23, married Frances Joseph Henseler, age 28, at St. John Catholic Church, Hilbert.^4,1,5 Verona died, at the age of 74 years, on Monday, 16 November 1987 in Sheboygan.^1,3 She is buried in Gardens of Peace Mausoleum, Sheboygan.³

     Rose Theresa Schinner, daughter of Michael Schinner and Maria Elizabeth Ott, was born on Wednesday, 28 December 1887 in Milwaukee, Milwaukee County, Wisconsin, USA.^1,2

     Oliver Peter Schulteis, son of William Schulteis and Agnes Maria Wolf, was born on Sunday, 21 April 1912 in Richfield, Washington County, Wisconsin, USA.^2,3,1,4,5 On Wednesday, 11 August 1937, Oliver Peter, age 25, married Anna (Ann) Margaret Siegl, age 25, at St. Boniface Catholic Church, Goldendale, Wisconsin.^6,7 Oliver died, at the age of 84 years, on Thursday, 14 November 1996 at Community Memorial Hospital, Menomonee Falls, Waukesha County.^8,4,9,5 He is buried in St. Boniface Catholic Cemetery, Germantown.^5,10 The burial location is Section 3, Row 6, Plot 29-B1 next to his wife Ann and east of his father-in-law Joseph Siegl. A Mass of Christian Burial was conducted by Father Bernard Sippel on Sunday evening. Pallbearers were all his grandchildren.

Oliver was a community oriented person serving it throughout his life. He paid particular attention to children and their needs from building tennis courts, ball diamonds, and organizing boy scouts to building schools and churches and serving on church, school, and community boards. He had many good friends and received many commendations. He was a giver not a taker. He loved to talk to people. In his 50s, he could tell you a little bit of history about the owner of every farm within a 10 mile radius of Germantown. His biggest complaint, "the children are our future and we should not sell them out." That is what he thought of the national debt. He will be missed by many.
